21.01.2022 HOPE AND PEACE FROM WITHIN Exhibition open to the public from Thursday June 13th until Saturday June 22nd Times: 10am to 3pm... Venue: Old Ambulance Station 80 Howard Street Nambour With stunning visuals by photographer/Bloomhill client and cancer survivor Joe Surace, and touching interviews by writer Emma Downer, the brand new beautiful book Hope and Peace from Within is a collection of powerful portraits and interviews from the Bloomhill Cancer Care client community. In recognition of Joe’s incredible work in creating the idea for the book and to acknowledge the bravery of the clients who participated in this project, Bloomhill sought grant funding to publish the portraits from the book and showcase these stunning photos in a public art exhibition. CEO Chris Franck said that "Bloomhill hopes that by sharing these incredibly powerful pictures and stories, the Sunshine Coast community might embrace this fantastic opportunity to better understand the impact of cancer on a person’s life." The exhibition has been timed to fall in JUNE as part of a month-long campaign to raise awareness around cancer prevalence on the Sunshine Coast and the role Bloomhill provides in terms of cancer care and support across the region for survivors, their families and their carers . #bethereforBloomhill and join us for this incredible, stunning and raw exhibition and also purchase your own copy of the book! We thank Joe for donating his time to this project with all proceeds from the sales of Hope and Peace from Within going to Bloomhill Cancer Care ABOUT Joe Surace Photographer and Cancer Survivor Joe studied Photography at the renowned PSC in Melbourne where he established a large and successful Studio in Richmond, Victoria specializing in Weddings, Models and Commercial work. Around 2002 Joe moved his business to Brisbane and then a few years later to the Sunshine Coast, which is full of so many wonderful Photographic locations. Diagnosed with cancer in 2014, Joe was given little or no chance of recovery. Numerous operations later, including a 133-day stint in hospital, Joe was left weak and frail. Joe discovered Bloomhill by chance when he was invited to participate in a focus group at the Wellness-Survivor Centre to provide input to the new Oncology Ward at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. Here Joe met an old friend, a nurse that helped him through his darkest hours, she encouraged Joe to come and be a part of the Bloomhill family, which he did.
