22.01.2022 Picked up 3 new corporate travellers (travelling together) in the city today. As we walked to the car, one said: "this will be much better than a smelly taxi". 19.01.2022 This has happened too many times over the years across many carparks near the airport as opportunists know the cars are there for prolonged periods of time. None of the carparks have fully functional CCTV and even if they promise you premium valet etc they will move your car around the premises to get access to other cars or move them off-site to paddocks and reportedly to nearby shopping centre carparks, meaning your car is never 100% secure. Furthermore, it's not hard for ...these same people to discover who owns the cars and where they are normally garaged making your home a potential target us well. Best place to leave your car???? UBER and other ride-share may be the cheapest option but they are also the least monitored and have the lowest safety standards.... They slip into the commercial transport industry with minimal police and safety checks and once in are a law unto themselves. Don't forget, these ride share apps are ALL administered overseas. Any recourse is between you and head office via the app. No local contact available. With taxis you have a local depot and identification on the vehicle as well as M or T prefix licence plates, security camera in the vehicle and driver ID displayed inside the car. They are monitored closely by the Taxi Services Commission. Corporate hire cars have distinguishing VHA/VHB licence plates, we are pre-booked so YOU know who you booked and we personally guarantee safe, competent, reliable cars and drivers. Our fire services and volunteers are doing their absolute best to try and save what's left of our beautiful landscape but even with international assistance from the USA, NZ and other nations it's a "losing battle" against mother nature.... 14.01.2022 The coronavirus is a serious concern!! The fact that they say this virus can be passed on even by touching surfaces, means there is really no way of avoiding the risk of catching it. You could contract it as easily from holding a cup of coffee made or served by someone with the bug or from being face to face with somebody carrying the bug.... They totally deregulated our taxi/hire-car/rideshare industry and issued licences to anyone who applied regardless of whether they had any business plan/client etc. Basically saturated the industry with drivers who are desperate to make a living and see touting is the easiest way.... Problem is most of these drivers have no accreditation and worse still haven't got the correct insurance. 01.01.2022 Now that the cold, wet weather is creeping in we all need to be so much more careful on our roads. The road toll is already 50 fatalities up on last year and still I see drivers taking stupid risks every day. The white sign, with black numbers and a red ring around it, whether flashing or still IS THE MAXIMUM SPEED you are permitted to do in that area. By law you are not permitted to exceed that limit until you pass the next sign (if it is a higher number). ... Why then on roads like Monash or Tullamarine Freeways do so many decide they are above the law and can do whatever speed they like??? The majority of these drivers are tradies in big heavily loaded 4x4s (not the best handling vehicles to begin with). More concerning to me are the number of Taxis, UBERs and admittedly some hire cars also speeding and often with passengers in board. NOTE!!! If you are a passenger in one of these cars and notice it is passing the majority of other cars tell the driver to SLOW DOWN! if you are seeing this and you are a driver, THINK!! If and when you get pulled over by the police, the time you were trying to gain will be wasted on the side of the road while you receive your infringement. If you get an infringement on the spot or by mail, it will cost you more than a return airfare to Sydney. Also depending on priors maybe your licence. If you cause an accident and it can be proven you were speeding, you can be charged with hoon or dangerous driving. Insurance may decline your claim. More seriously, if you cause an accident resulting in death, the charge is culpable driving which incurs minimum 5 years jail. SO, is it really worth the extra +5-10km/h??
