22.01.2022 Australia Day weekend for us is about spending time with friends on the Murray! A few years ago now we were invited to stay in Corowa at a Caravan park with friends. It started with four families and quickly grew and has since become a yearly event. The only change is the destination which has been moved to Tocumwal!... We stayed at Time Out Caravan Park in Koonoomoo which is on the Victorian side of the Murray. A large park with mainly permanent vans for Annual holiday makers. They have a series of Cabins, ranging from the budget option to the taj mahal overlooking the pool. You can also bring your van or camp too but for this trip we stayed in a cabin. Just outside the gates is a large beach on the Murray which is where we spent most of the day. There is plenty for us to do with water sports being the main attraction but keeping up with Jack was enough to tire us out most days. The best part of going here for us is the fact that there is little to no reception and that we can truly switch off and embrace family time surrounded by great friends. Tocumwal itself is on the NSW side of the border and luckily, we were allowed to head over the border as it changed to a green zone just before we left home. It is a small country town with your stereotypical welcoming country locals who welcome you with open arms and a cold beer. There are a couple of local pubs, a great little bakery, lovely spot for breaky and a great butcher! One of the best and most unexpected things in town is the little water park that is free for anyone to use! The kids absolutely loved it and it certainly was a well needed splash on a 42 day. All in all, our trips to Tocumwal are something that we thoroughly enjoy as it is a moment of peace away from the craziness of normal day to day life. The park isn’t anything overly special, but it is in a great spot with great facilities and full of great people. If you like the Murray and haven’t been to Tocumwal, then get over there.

As much as he is an absolute menace and literally has us pulling our hair out at times, we can’t wait to see what this guy is going to achieve in the future Not that we are wishing his life away, more so that we are looking forward to being able to be there every step of the way....
