Jozef Israëls shows how a cradle is cleaned in Scheveningen, Holland..., because mother expects it to be used again. With a long-haired brush (and sand ??) the dust disappeared from the wickerwork and the cradle becomes fresh again. What experience do you have with color restoration if an old rattan chair has turned gray in 70 years? With some spit you can see that the color is still below. It reminds me of those beautiful wet stones on the beach. You take them home and they've all turned dusty gray. In short, water or oil makes the surface flat and so brings back the color. What will I use: Olive oil? Teflon spray? Clear PU lacquer? Who has had experience, good or bad? See more

12.01.2022 Restoring this Old Seagrass Wicker children’s chairs. Well it was more like a rebuild! The old Seagrass was tired and brittle in most places. The chair will be handed down to the next generation so it had to be the full works. Eventually the Seagrass will darken with age and look amazing.
