24.01.2022 Due to unforseen events there will be no assistance dog training at Caversham today... will be on again on Friday

22.01.2022 I get very concerned about the misinformation which is put out about assistance dogs. In the photo a really sweet GSD girl has been sent to us for training from Victoria... it was a lot cheaper inclusive of the flights to have the dog sent here to do her training. Added to that, i spoke to a young lady in Queensland who has not even been given the most basic information on how to work with an alert.. Training an assistance dog has significant responsibilities... its not a ...job... its not about geting a dog to do an action, its about a bond and creating a partnership, between the dog and the person they are assisting. They need to be a team, all training should be geared towards them being a team... a trainer of assistance dogs needs to fully comprehend that its a very, very serious matter.... the clients life may well depend upon the trainer making sure that the client and the dog are a team. Any fool can teach a dog to respond to cues... the reality for assistance dogs is that they need to do it for real, when its needed and everytime its needed, cues or not

15.01.2022 With the temperature to get to 36 in perth on friday there will be no training at Caversham tomorrow. Training will be on again the following Wednesday

11.01.2022 Summer (golden retriever) and Poppett (GSD) having their first sessions in the supermarket. Both did very well and together with Errol the irish terrier then went and worked to help a reactive dog learn it doesn't need to react. Its so important that therapy and Assistance dogs learn to stay focused no matter what is happening in their environment.
