25.01.2022 Is it a bubble, no it is a Japanese Spitz

25.01.2022 How gorgeous is this dog?

25.01.2022 I think I need to reopen the salon. Stella is super clean, lol

24.01.2022 So happy to be back at the Clipjoint this week, caught up with lots of clients and their pups. Everyone is so friendly, and happy to see Tony and me. We have really missed seeing everyone on a regular basis.

24.01.2022 Ash had her first groom today, so relaxed

22.01.2022 Can our clients sign this petition, we are trying to open and start grooming your puppers?

21.01.2022 After lockdown.

19.01.2022 Yes, we are still open and busy looking after the pets of Melbourne. We are so lucky to be able to see our clients and pups during this time. Fortunately we are still counted as essential pet services. Hope everyone is well and continues to remain upbeat during this time of Covid19. See you all at the Clipjoint soon.

18.01.2022 EDIT - Freesia is on hold pending homecheck. Thank you for all your support and interest. - Can you give Freesia a loving home?... Freesia is a bright and bubbly 7 year old desexed Afghan Hound looking for her perfect forever home. Freesia has deformities in her front legs and feet that mean that she needs someone who can give her a loving life with considerately limited activity - like walking on lead and puttering in the garden. Freesia is not suitable for activities like lure coursing or agility, or for someone looking for a high activity companion. Freesia IS suited to someone looking for a great couch buddy. Freesias new people will need to ensure her future needs are met to keep her physically sound and as pain free as possible. Her weight will need to be managed carefully to ensure that her mobility is not affected. She will need an owner strong enough to say no more treats! Freesia is good with other dogs, and has good dog manners. Due to her physical constraints, her future dog housemates will need to have excellent dog manners as well. Another couch potato hound would suit her very well as a companion. Freesia is located in Southern NSW. Subject to COVID restrictions, east coast interstate adoption will be considered To express an interest in Freesia please email [email protected] and let us know why you think you can offer a great home to Freesia.

17.01.2022 Very important information

17.01.2022 Apparently Channel 7 interviewed a groomer last night and said that groomers cannot work. What was not said on air is that mobiles and home salons are closing but actual salons are still able to operate. So fingers crossed we can still offer our services.

17.01.2022 Coco in for her second clip

15.01.2022 As veterinary surgeries reopen after lockdown, you may find if your dog has missed a vaccination booster, that they say that the whole course of 3 should be res...tarted. Please be aware that it states in each vaccine guideline information sheet from the companies that produce the vaccines, that this is not needed. A single booster is sufficient, but you can also have a blood test called a titre test done instead to check your dogs circulating levels of immunity and even a booster may not be needed. Some also choose to use homeopathic nosode remedies instead. If you vaccinate your dogs you should know that after the 12mth booster, the guidance is that boosters are given no more frequently than at least 3 years apart until the dog is 7, and then should not be needed ever again - unfortunately these guidelines are not enforced and some still try to give yearly boosters, increasing the risk of illnesses being caused by the toxins in vaccines. This has been the recommendation for vets to follow since 2011 from WASAVA -World Small Animal Veterinary Association. https://www.petwelfarealliance.org/index.html https://caninehealthconcern.weebly.com

02.01.2022 SO JUST HOW LONG DO YOUR PETS SHOTS LAST? Definitely longer than a year! According to the top pet immunologist (aka vaccine expert) in the world, Dr. Ronald Sc...hultz, Ph.D. Annual revaccination provides no benefit and may increase the risk for adverse reactions. What the heck are adverse reactions (or side effects)? Well according to the other rock star pet immunologist Dr. Jean Dodds: Side effects from dog vaccinations can occur anywhere from instantly up to several weeks or months later. Vaccines can even cause susceptibility to chronic diseases that appear much later in a dogs life (Dodd, 2001). Severe and fatal adverse reactions include: Susceptibility to infections. Neurological disorders and encephalitis. Aberrant behavior, including unprovoked aggression. Vaccines are linked to seizures. Distemper, parvovirus, rabies and, presumably, other vaccines have been linked with poly neuropathy, a nerve disease that involves inflammation of several nerves. (Dodds,2001) SO HOW LONG EXACTLY DOES YOUR PETS VACCINE LAST? According to the recommendations of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), (basically the dudes who set the standards for the vets): Among healthy dogs, all commercially available [core] vaccines are expected to induce a sustained protective immune response lasting at least 5 yr. thereafter Heres the breakdown of the core vaccines from Dr. Ronald Schultz: Minimum Duration of Immunity for Canine Vaccines: Distemper- 7 years by challenge Parvovirus 7 years by challenge Adenovirus 7 years by challenge Canine rabies 3 years by challenge The moral of the story here, if you have no idea when your pet is due or has been vaccinated, then just run a titer test and this will confirm if you are due, rather than over-vaccinate your poor pet, setting the stage for future problems! Whats a titer test? A titer test (pronounced tight-errr) is a laboratory or in-house veterinary test measuring the existence and level of antibodies (necessary to fight off disease) in your pets blood. Basically, its a test that will tell you whether or not you actually need to vaccinate your pet. Its also super useful when making a decision about vaccinating a pet with an unknown vaccination history, or for determining if pets have received immunity from vaccination. Vaccinating your pet is super important so dont lose the overall message here: VACCINATE, JUST DONT OVER-VACCINATE! According to Dr. Dodds: Vaccines have achieved many important benefits for companion animals, and has saved more animals' lives than any other medical advance. Want more on titer testing? Check it out: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153271303942028&set=pb.509362027.-2207520000.1461100680.&type=3&theater Rodney Habib "An educated, informed and well-researched community of pet owners can only put more pressure on the pet food industry to be better! When pet owners know better, they will only do better!"

01.01.2022 Unfortunately the Clipjoint will be closed temporarily. We feel this is necessary to keep our staff and clients safe in the current situation. We hope we will be back to making your pups beautiful very soon, and please stay safe during this unprecedented pandemic. Cheers Jen, Tony, Ken, Holly, and Monica xxx
