23.01.2022 Rin is still the champion of the cross eyed treat stare Rinny Tin Tin has been attending our Dayschool program at Windamere Kennel & Cattery to address his mild dog reactivity and other elements such as; ~ Building on obedience... ~ Increasing enthusiasm for training ~ Burning excess energy ~ Providing mental and physical enrichment ~ So many more goodies We love having this sweetheart visit and we are so proud to be a part of his training and development Learn more about our Dayschool programs here: www.canineconnect.com.au/training/dog-day-school/ #rintintin #dashingdobie

23.01.2022 King Kong is top of the class Kong is a strong boy that has been attending Dayschool classes with the Canine Connect crew since early November. Initially, Kong struggled with his manners and basic obedience; he pulled and jumped when on lead, tried to force his way past doorways and struggled maintaining his basic obedience.... These behaviours meant that Kong was often over excited and stimulated with no "off switch" which saw him without the ability to relax. Over the course of several Dayschool sessions the trainers have noticed a massive improvement in Kong's behaviour. He is more relaxed and has much better engagement with the trainers. His skillset has improved rapidly, allowing us to push him further each time he attended school. While we would love to take the credit for his changes the truth is that his owners have done a fantastic job of continuing his progressikn at home and it really does show the effort they are putting into him are paying off. Dog trainers are your mechanics of the training world, we are here to get you started, to assist and fine tune along the way but ultimately the work and responsibility needs to be done, practiced and enforced in the home environment. For more information on our Dayschool and Board & Train options visit us online at www.canineconnect.com.au or email us directly at [email protected] #kingkong #topoftheclass

On Saturday he joined his first group class, was focused, confident and engaged with his mumma. Dayschool, Puppy School and lots of homework have seen this cutie showing some amazing progress in such little time. Put in the effort, real the rewards! Well done guys #doitrightdyson #lovelylab

17.01.2022 "Whoever said you can't buy happiness forgot about little puppies" - Gene Hill. We run numerous puppy schools each year with countless puppies and guardians, many of them first time puppy trainers. Their dedication to their pups can be heart warming, their relationships beautiful.... However, we can often ruin this by trying to enforce or expect TOO MUCH, TOO SOON, and mistake a well behaved puppy for a shy, timid or shut down puppy. Dogs are sentient beings, with emotion and personalities of their own. Our job is to guide them, stand up for them and most importantly prepare them. In week 4 of our school we have a short Q&A about behavioural problems in which we normally get the same questions about destruction, barking, toileting and all the other wonderful things a puppy brings into our home. Often our answers are "be proactive", manage and prevent early" but we always finish on "remember, they are puppies and learning, so are you!". Take the hardships as well as the good and enjoy knowing you have a wonderful creature, full of joy, forgiveness and love. It won't be easy, and puppy hood is such a short moment so savour that and sit down and play with your dog. Here are some beautiful shots of Clancy the Red Heeler pup enjoying one of those moments. No rules, no structure, just living in the moment of love #puppiesrock #enjoythemoment

09.01.2022 Big Boy Buster Buster is a big boy with an even bigger heart. Due to his burly figure he can be quite a handful both on and off the lead so he came to stay with the board and train crew to work on his manners and basic obedience skills. Being a big boy, Buster had already learnt that he could use his size and strength to his advantage and would fully resist any pressure on the lead making it nearly impossible to take him anywhere. ... Infact, Buster was at a stage he would drop and crocodile roll when he felt even the smallest amount of lead pressure and required a veterinarian to sedate him for transportation. Noticing a lack of confidence in his environment and self, an obvious bad relationship with the lead and missing some basic fundamentals, the Canine Connect crew got to work building on these areas. Through small sessions, we began changing HOW HE FEELS & RESPONDS to lead pressure and building a more positive line of communication. Pairing this with basic obedience skills such as place, loose lead and drop he started to come out of his shell and show off his true cheeky personality. We have loved having this amazing boy with us and showing him a more positive outlook in life. We hope to see Buster smashing more goals in life Discover more about our Board & Train programs here! - www.canineconnect.com.au/training/board-train/ #bigboybuster #tank
