21.01.2022 AUSTRALIAN REPRESENTATIVE NUMBER LAUNCH We are pleased to now officially launch a new and exciting initiative that seeks to celebrate canoe polo in Australia th...rough the allocation of a unique Australian Representative Number (ARN) to those athletes who represent Australia at international canoe polo events. The purpose of the initiative is to: - Recognise the history and depth of canoe polo at the international level. - Recognise achievement of individuals and teams. - Provide another avenue to reconnect current and past players. - Inspire others to achieve at a similar high level of representation. Rebecca Jennings, concept initiator and lead ARN data coordinator, is here to tell us a bit more about this concept. She first got the idea one sunny weekend, kicking back watching the cricket when she noticed a small number under the Coat of Arms on each athlete and has since worked dilligently to develop this same number system for canoe polo! 14.01.2022 2020-2021 AUSTRALIAN CANOE POLO COMPETITION CALENDAR Given the current global Covid-19 Pandemic, we anticipate a reduced competition calendar for the coming yea...r. All anticipated scheduling remains subject to further confirmation. Please continue to assess the situation in your local area and continue participation on your own or in appropriate sized groups - we really encourage you to stay active at this time! SUMMER SERIES (AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL SUMMER SERIES LEAGUE) In 2019-2020 we introduced the concept of the Australian National Summer Series League, where entry by clubs was the focus. We are looking to strengthen this club based focus for future events as we move to the Australian National Summer Series League. The global pandemic has in a way, enhanced the need for canoe polo to focus at club level development and participation. We seek to see this replicated more into the future. We anticipate 2 events being held in either January/February or February/March (subject to confirmation). AUSTRALIAN CANOE POLO CHAMPIONSHIPS The Australian Canoe Polo Championships are anticipated to be held in September 2021. Host state and dates remain subject to confirmation. WORLD CANOE POLO CHAMPIONSHIPS The World Canoe Polo Championships are rescheduled to be held 13-18 April 2021, Rome Italy. 05.01.2022 SUMMER SERIES LEAGUE - RETURNING IN 2021 Northern Districts Canoe Club plan on running the Australia Day Canoe Polo Competition again in 2021! The event will be held at First Avenue, Mawson Lakes, SA on Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th January 2021. ... Competition Info: Categories are Open (Division 1 and 2), Women and Junior, running across the two days. We are really keen to run both women's and junior divisions this year so please encourage any women or young people in your state to attend. Two Playing areas will accommodate ample games for all teams. All competitors must be a financial member of a Paddle Australia affiliated canoe club. All competitors must comply with the Paddle Australia Behaviour Policy and Member Protection Policy. Competition organisers and officials will take a zero-tolerance approach to breaches of these policies particularly in relation to on-field behaviour. COVID-19 Info: The event will operate under a COVID-Safe Plan and measures will be in place to ensure that the event is run as safely as possible. If the event needs to be cancelled or modified the event, or teams need to withdraw due to a COVID-19 outbreak or border closures, entry fees will be refunded. Team Entry forms must be received by 5:00pm (ACDST) on Friday 15th January with entry fees due by 5pm Friday 22nd January.
