We can see the most impressive part of the Milky Way most nights of the year and now is the best time for photographing it. ... My challenge to you is to photograph a nightscape that includes the Milky Way core and a foreground subject. It can be a nice field, a great rock formation, a man made object or even a human figure. This incredible group of young creatives were mentored for 12 weeks through 6 modules that aimed to explore their passions and style, fine tune their craft and give a solid understanding of what it takes to pursue a career in the creative industries. After the program,10 cadets were chosen to continue working with Matt and Aaron for an additional three weeks of mentoring, and each received an EOS RP to assist them along their careers. Featured are some of the shots from the chosen 10 cadets and the stories behind them. We're excited to see what these young creatives achieve next!

11.01.2022 #CanonChallenge - 'The Monochrome Challenge' This weeks Canon Challenge comes from community member Stephen Finkel Photography who has challenged to create a moody monochrome image with a hint of drama or mystery. "Let‘s turn back the clock, to when photography was shot in monochrome. Using the picture styles on your camera, set your picture profile to monochrome - This way you can see the results right on the back of the camera. ... Go and discover a new way to tell your stories as you turn the world into monochrome. Using monochrome you can create a mood and drama which is much harder to create in a colour image. Your challenge is create a monochrome image that's moody or has a hint of drama or mystery in it." Shot on a Canon EOS 5Ds and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM ISO 100 | f/5.6 |1/1000s | 400mm Share your photos in the comments below, and be sure to include the camera and shot settings! :)

09.01.2022 Photography has the power to: transcend culture and geography; to make audiences stop, think, and ask questions; and to tell a story. Each year, World Press Photo champions the power of photojournalism by raising public awareness and driving discussions about important issues and moments they have captured that have defined our society in the past year. At Canon, were committed to supporting, servicing and backing press photographers - whether they are based in Australia or... overseas - to capture these pivotal moments. This year we are proud to be a generous supporter of The State Library of New South Wales to bring the worlds best photojournalism to Australians in even the most challenging of circumstances. Be sure to click through this gallery to get a taste of the incredible stories on display. 01.01.2022 #CANONCHALLENGE - As the weathers warming up we are sure many of you are eager to head to the beach and capture some shots of our beautiful Australian coastline. So this weeks Canon Challenge comes from community member Cru Scanlan - Photography - Slow Shutter Speed Seascape Photography I personally love to use slow shutter speeds to capture the water flow of waves as they crash against the shore. It helps to create a sense of motion in the image and simplify the scene of... distracting elements. The key is to find an exposure length that smooths out the texture of the water surface without losing the definition of the waves. Shot on a Canon EOS 80D - ISO 100 | F/18 | 1/5s | 10mm Drop your images in the comments below and be sure to include your shot info and gear!
