18.01.2022 Its a perfect night in Canowindra, not a breath of wind and clear skies. at about this time we should have been all having to sit down after having our minds BLOWN at the Cabonne Community Glow for 2020. Its our signature event of the week and our favourite as we get to party on at the end of a great week of flying. We thought its a great opportunity to look back at last years glow and remember what a GREAT night it was. We will also be all thinking of next year and look...ing forward to this incredibly spectacular event in a beautiful part of Australia. 18.01.2022 From the 15-19 April, the skies will come alive as Hot-Air Balloonists from all over Australia embark on Canowindra. We are excited to hear vice-president of Australian Ballooning Federation and owner of Kavanagh Balloons, Mr Sean Kavanagh will be heading to Canowindra to fly each morning. Sean is no stranger to the world of Hot Air Ballooning and given many pilots fly with the Kavanagh brand - he is well known and respected within the sport. ... 10.01.2022 Well today dawned as a perfect ballooning day in Canowindra on what should have been out first day of this years festival. Unfortunately in the crazy World we all find ourselves in we are instead in our homes and dreaming of what could have been. With that in mind we decided to share with you all this rare pilots eye footage of the Supagas Canowindra International Balloon Challenge so you can see the event as you never have before. 06.01.2022 PRESS RELEASE EVENT CANCELLATION DUE TO COVID-19 With profound disappointment, the Committee of the Canowindra International Balloon Challenge have decided to cancel the event for this year.... While we would all love to see the event take to the skies this year, we are also acutely aware of the need to protect the health of our participants, visitors and residents. Recent announcements by the State and federal Governments mean it is no longer possible to hold this event this year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our amazing sponsors for their understanding and support. We would also like to thank the people of our fantastic town who have jumped in behind this event this year. 05.01.2022 SAVE THE DATE The Canowindra International Balloon Challenge will be back in 2021. After a huge amount of community support in 2020 the organisers were devastated to have to cancel the event due to the Covid-19 pandemic. And while the organising committee has had its hands full finishing up the loose ends from this year's non-event, They have their eye firmly on the future, We are ready and raring to go for 2021! says Andrew Pull, President of the organising committee. ...The 2021 Canowindra International Balloon Challenge will be a fantastic event and we are looking forward to welcoming back all of our sponsors, balloon teams, visitors and locals to this amazing event that’s perfect for the whole family and is mostly free. Local business owner and Board member, Sarah Cummings says This is one of the bigger events for our region and it does bring a lot to the local businesses in and around Canowindra. We are a very proud and friendly town and it’s a great opportunity to showcase our many talents, amongst one of the most beautiful regional areas in NSW. Balloonists are also looking forward to coming back to Canowindra for next year's event and initial responses indicate a large number of balloons for the event next year. Next year is a really busy time for the balloonists with three other events happening in the 6 weeks before our event, so it's great to see such an early commitment from the balloonists says Board member Annette Thomas, The busy balloonist calendar has also meant the organisers needed a slightly different time slot with the event now occurring after the First term school holidays. Andrew Pull says We want to be able to provide the best event we can and we need to push the dates back a week to accommodate existing ballooning events so we can get the maximum number of balloons at the event. There will be something for everybody at this years event and we encourage everyone to keep up to date by following our website and Facebook sites as we release more information over the coming months, but for now SAVE THE DATE and we look forward to seeing you all in Canowindra in April next year This year's event will run from Saturday 24th April until Sunday 2nd May.
