21.01.2022 Canowindra's disused rail precinct. The old grain storage shed, station buildings and goods shed are all suitable to community use and the turntable brings a significant historic feature to the park.

16.01.2022 Canowindra boasts the fantastic well preserved but disused rail precinct pictured above. It is adjacent to the village CBD and backs onto The Age Of Fishes and Historic Museums. This area can be reinvented into a beautiful and function public area and park. The long shed can be renovated for community use and the buildings turned into usable spaces. Are you interested in assisting us bring this fantastic resource back to life and make it the public resource for our Village.... Please like the page and comment if you are interested in assisting at any level. We are looking for people to assist in this large but achievable project. Initially we are only interested in expressions of interest. Join other enthusiastic Canowindra groups like The Men's Shed, The Age Of Fishes Museum, The Canowindra Historic Society, Canowindra@home, Canowindra Produce and a number of active individuals. We have the support of the John Holland Group who are the managers of the area on behalf the NSW railways and Cabonne Council have also shown support in redeveloping the area. See more

09.01.2022 The good news is it was decided at today's meeting to proceed and to investigate the redevelopment of the rail precinct into a usable community park. Locals present at today's meeting agreed there is a community benefit in creating a park and options were floated to increase public involvement. Initially we need letters of support from local clubs, organizations, businesses and individuals. The most likely plan will be to initially do the most basic and easiest redevelopme...nt that ensures the area is cleaned up and practical to maintain. Follow up with more intense and complicated works such as renovating buildings, installing gardens and interpretive signage. A meeting is planned for early June with council staff, a heritage consultant and a John Holland representative with the aim of setting guidelines, responsibilities and funding avenues. See more

05.01.2022 NEXT STEPS MEETING. There will be a meeting at 11am on Tuesday 24th May at the Canowindra Service Club to discuss the next steps and set up a committee for the Railway Park project. If you are interested in contributing to the project and actively helping it move ahead we will appreciate your company. There will be a public briefing in the weeks following to keep the village informed. This is a great opportunity to do something with a long term benefit to our beaut village and we need volunteers.
