18.01.2022 On Sunday 6 December 2020, Propel once again invites you to join us in documenting 24 hours of life in Western Australia from your perspective. Every year, hundreds of people across WA simultaneously step behind their cameras to capture and submit an image from their day to Mosaic, a community-driven photography project and exhibition. We're asking anyone and everyone in WA to set aside a couple of minutes on Sunday 6 December, to capture part of their day on camera. Use your... phone, a DSLR, a film camera, a point and shoot, Instagram, a tablet - whatever you have at your disposal! After registering, and during the lead-up to Capture Day, we'll send you the upload link. You'll have a week after Sunday 6 December to upload your image and have it displayed in a professional exhibition, alongside other contributions from all walks of life in WA. It's that easy! Register before 5 December: http://bit.ly/Mosaic20 Find out more about Mosaic 2020: https://bit.ly/32yHW79
13.01.2022 A big heartfelt thanks to our friends at Reconciliation WA for inviting CAN to your AGM and Sundowner event last night... being amongst so many people who share our passion for First Nations equality and justice was empowering! However our biggest thanks must go to our inspirational Lullabies artists Phil Bartlett and Cyndy Moody for your performance. The generosity in which you share your stories, your songs, your lives... is an embodiment of what Reconciliation is all about.... It is a joy and a privilege to hear you sing and share your journey with us. Lullabies is such a special program. it brings people together to write songs in Noongar, but it's the healing that comes with the language learning that changes lives. Moort. Koort. 12.01.2022 Story | Community Arts spotlight CREA | created by Colombian migrants and trained psychologists living in Perth. The organisation sees clowning as a method for ...sparking joy, social connection, and mental health support. Their workshops are aimed towards those who may be experiencing emotional or financial hardship and are unable to access social safety nets like Medicare, mental health support and income support. Their Dream Plan Do project, Migration of Me was facilitated by Community Arts Network. The group held a series of workshops designed to guide participants through aspects of artistic expression in an effort to encourage them to utilise this tool to help cope with life’s challenges. Participants were encouraged to develop their own clown persona as well, giving an outlet to their personal creative thoughts and ideas. See more about this and other fabulous success stories in the creative industries on our advocacy website. #ArtsMatters | www.artsmatters.org.au CREA Clowning Performance // Image: Evelyn Vargas

10.01.2022 Day of Demonstration was a day of listening, learning and doing. The impact of the day is still being felt by the whole CAN team and will make a lasting impact on our future work. CAN welcomed delegates from across the state and online to consider how we can harness the power of art to create change. A huge thank you to everyone that was a part of this monumental occasion!! The event would not have been the success that it was without the collaborative effort from Arts Front,... City of Joondalup, Creative Recovery Network and the Museum of Freedom and Tolerance. Special thanks to all the artists and presenters involved on the day, the MC's Shelagh Magadza and Ron Bradfield, and our Producer Peter Cheng Acid Flicks. The team at Edith Cowan University (ECU) Joondalup also went above and beyond in supporting the delivery of the event. If you were unable to attend in person, CAN's partnership with ArtsFront has allowed the event to be recorded for future online access. Check it our here>> https://bit.ly/3loHeks Photography on the day by the incredibly talented Michelle Troop.

03.01.2022 #alwayswasalwayswillbe Beautiful words from CAN's Marketing and Partnership Manager Michelle, "A statement of reclamation. Guildford is a national trust town known for its colonial history. It's ancient Noongar history is unseen.... Until now." Check out the Splash of Colour Mural on the banks of the Derbaryl Yerrigan.
02.01.2022 Water Corporation, CAN and City of Swan launched the Splash of Colour mural on the banks of the Derbaryl Yerrigan yesterday. This project has been an incredible collaboration with Noongar artists Rod Garlett and Nathan Corunna working alongside community artists Darren Hutchens and Lawry Halden to paint the Bridge Street station. They were helped in the design and painting with members from the Moorditj Maaman Men's Group and Indigo Junction's Strong Fathers program.... These guys have done such a moorditj job on this project and what a statement it makes to Guildford. #alwayswasalwayswillbe #naidocweek2020 This project was partially funded by the McGowan Government through Water Corporation's Splash of Colour program, with further support from Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Australia Council for the Arts. Thank you ABC Perth for coming down and capturing some of this mural's beauty.
01.01.2022 Thanks to Chamber of Arts and Culture - Western Australia for featuring CAN for #artsmatters
