24.01.2022 Recently I had the opportunity to spend another weekend with this wonderful woman...we have had a few weekend adventures....bike riding from Leongatha to Meeniyan and return,weekend trips to Healesville and Noojee. More recently it was Phillip Island and a 25km walk around French Island. When I'm with Em I think of the saying "Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life". She inspires me to push myself, she makes me laugh and if sunshine was in a human form I'm quite sure it would look like Em.

18.01.2022 Updated my First Aid and CPR today. Two new APPS were suggested by the nurse/First Aid trainer. Good Sam Alerter which when activated, will alert 3 Good SAM trained responders nearby and Emergency Services. Emergency Plus for those times when you are not quite sure where you are! I am a VIT registered Special Education teacher and have also recently undertaken further training in the NDIS Early Childhood,Early Intervention (ECEI) approach.I have over 12 years of teaching experience in both mainstream and specialist settings and 35 years experience working in the disability sector, having previously worked for DHHS, St John of God, Wesley Mission and SCOPE. I also served as a Police Officer in the Victoria Police Force and gain...ed a great deal of relevant experience whilst a member of the Community Policing Squad. I hold a Master of Education (Special Needs), Graduate Diploma of Education ( Secondary, teaching methods, Psychology and Humanities), Bachelor of Social Science ( Psychology and Sociology) and Certificate IV in Disability Studies. My philosophy is a simple one; I believe all individuals regardless of their disability should have choice and control over their lives. I aim to empower individuals to access and create a life that is meaningful and that has purpose. I also strive to support individuals to fully participate in the community and to access the same opportunities as others. As a teacher I recognise all students are individuals and that everyone learns in their own unique way. My role is to find students preferred learning style and to support them in extending upon their abilities so that they reach their full potential. I offer education support, respite and community access programs. Capacity Building Supports is an insured, NDIS registered business operating throughout South Gippsland and the Bass Coast.

13.01.2022 Kmart Australia to introduce the "Quiet Space" low-sensory program. The Quiet Space program will be held every Wednesday from 3.30pm to 5.30pm, and will involve changes to the in-store environment, including dimmed lighting, quieter music, register and scanner volumes, and limited trolley collections.
