24.01.2022 Had a few calls down to farnborough beach access late this week and weekend. The last couple were this ranger and great wall! Watch out guys it must be a bit more doughy than normal Sorry to the lady who called from down there today... i just couldnt get there
24.01.2022 Had this little contract the other day, a young local fella ownes this rodeo and the rear leaf springs had cried enough after bouncing around the sandy tracks at stockyard for a few years. This fishing rig should be up and running in no time! Thanks for the call guys
23.01.2022 Not where this fella intended on spending Boxing Day. Instead of sinking a few cold ones he was slapping sandies. Cheers for the call.
21.01.2022 We've got a fresh batch of stubby holders in! $10 each or we'll throw one in free with a pull I keep them in the truck... pull me up if you want one
20.01.2022 Unlucky for the Triton but Lucky for the person behind the wheel as no one was injured.
19.01.2022 I can hear donald trump from here making up excuses why the big yank tank didnt make it up sandy Old ma an pa kettle decided to take thier new effy for a run to test it out.... i hated to inform them that for some reason his front diff wasnt turning. He got the big girl wedged trying to do a U turn.. the mog got him pointing in the right direction and we chased him out to the road. Hopefully its nothing too major
18.01.2022 Remember the 2 local lads with the black 80 series from the landrover post yesterday.... we were able to return the favour with a tow back to yeppoon after their radiator split. Thanks again fellas
18.01.2022 Some nice rain in the region!
15.01.2022 Been a busy long weekend! Between burnt cars, bogs and breakdowns and a rollover, we have been flat chat, we appreciate all the calls for help... its always an adventure rocking up to a job... there is never 2 the same. See you all on the tracks next weekend Keep shiny side up
12.01.2022 So how many days does it take to skull drag a dead landy from the bottom of 3 rivers back to byfield? Exactly 2 days.... I know lotta guys will say " I could of done it in 1 " or " what took you so long... why didnt you blah blah blah " its actually amazing how many people ive met on the tracks that have done recovery as a profession back in 19 diggity 3... anyways. Lets treat this as a little Q & A session... just for shits and giggles So a landrover discovery with a blown ...Front C.V joint.... Can you get any drive to the rear wheels? No you can't... no matter what mode your in. They will not drive What if you try lock the offending C.V from turning? No.... because it cant sense wheel speed the smoke and mirrors under the dash in the black box stops all drive. So can you snatch a discovery up off the beach? Are you kidding.... with no drive at all and with a tare weight of close to 3t ( with no accessories) your not snatching that behemoth up any sandy hills Especially the conditions the tracks are in at the moment But what happens when you try? 131 fault codes ( verified by my OBD scan tool) And Random acts of input by the park brake at the most inappropriate times. With more alarms, lights and buzzers going off than an A380 airbus in trouble... this thing didnt know if it needed a shit or a haircut SO can you steer a landy with a popped bead on the left front wheel? Na... you cant. Can you steer a landy with a popped bead on the right hand front wheel? See above response Will a discovery with a shed load of fault codes just drop the air suspension because it thinks it will help? Yes... at any given moment it will drop the belly of the car straight on top of the sand. Just to dive the knife in Is there a chance it will drop altenator voltage so you cant operate the winch aswell? Yessiree.... about the same time the suspension drops its guts.. just to twist that knife a little Would landrover think it would be a good idea that the car should automatically lock all its doors with the keys in the car with the engine running if someone hasnt opened a door in 10 minutes? You bloody betcha! What a fantastic idea! Was the spare key within coooeee of the car at the time? Nup.... bout 150ks away Guys no offense intended to the landrover owners... but this and more all happened in the last 2 days. Obstacle after obstacle.. but we stood by our motto and left no one behind. The landy is back in civilistation and heading into the dealer tomorrow. The owner... his family and mates are fantastic people and they all bandied together to overcome their situation. Good luck with the repairs guys. Im sure you'll be talking about this for few years. Also a shout out to Marcus and his family for the lend of the discovery spare wheel. And the 2 local lads in the black 80 series for the daisey chain early this morning.... never underestimate an L plater in a petrol 80 series
10.01.2022 These young fellas from out west planned a big boys weekend in our neck of the woods... it probly turned out a little bigger than they had hoped. Breaking the nissan down at the beach entrance to 5 rocks they took it upon them selfs to try get the big girl up. After a few little mishaps along the way they decided to give us a call. We tracked down there first thing this morning and did a bit of winching around the tight bends... then strapped the two TOYOTAS in front of the NISSAN and daisy chained it up to the turnoff. We then got the mog to carry it out the rest of the way.... with a new clutch, some front treads and a bit of panel beating she'll be good as new! Kinda Thanks for the call boys
09.01.2022 Got a call at 1030pm last night. This patrol got a tad warm going up sandy. Was a bit of a mission fitting the rear tyres and getting it up on the trailer on the front rims, but we got there! Thanks to the young lads that helped running winch lines etc Happy to say that no one was injured and the surrounding bush didnt get torched. We rocked back into byfield about 4am this morning. ... This one wont buff out unfortunately. See more
06.01.2022 You know your stuck when the winch starts dragging the mog towards your bogged fourby.... Thats what we were faced with early this morning after driving 3hrs down to raglan to this young roosters new triton ( he'd owned it 4 days ). He and a few mates went for a saturday adventure and the lure of that flat salt lake just could not be ignored.... We got the call late last night to see if we could help, always up for a challenge we grabbed every strap and anything that looked... like a strap.. because this salt pan was soft... and the car was parked 250m out from the outer crust. The old winch worked overtime until we found a bit of harder ground... swung the mog around and for the first time used a snatch strap behind the mog.... well i didnt feel a thing once the slack took up, but apparently that triton jumped out of the hole and was able to move forward under its own steam... Thanks for the call mate... please dont take it to yeppoon car wash
06.01.2022 Massive day of winching today.. this landrover snapped a CV right at the beach access at 3 rivers. With all the electrical magic going under under the hood taking over, no matter what we did we couldnt get drive to just the rears. I just wanted to put a quick post up to let everyone know that we will be busy continuing to get this broken landy out of 3 rivers access track tomorow morning. We will make early start but if we happen to hold you up, please give us 10 mins to find a siding to pull over. Thanks in advance
06.01.2022 Team effort to get this tilly out of five rocks and back to its home.
01.01.2022 Bloody terrible.... but lucky in so many ways
