25.01.2022 We hope you don't mind heights! Squeamish visitors have been known to hug the lighthouse as the tentatively make their way around the balcony, trying to keep their eyes up not down. But Dylan Dehaas Films loved the adrenaline rush 43 metres above ground, along with his mate From Miles Away. Fully guided lighthouse tours run throughout the day, but they fill up quickly. We highly recommend booking a day or two in advance to guarantee a thrilling tour! Call us on 9780 59...11 or book at our website - https://www.margaretriverattractions.com//cape-leeuwin-li/ See more

24.01.2022 We had to battle it out to get onto the balcony this morning after a hair-raising visit from the King Kong spider. We’re pleased to report that the spider has been safely removed from the lighthouse and relocated to the grass outside caretaker and guide Paul Sofilas’ cottage. We mean, uhh, very far from Paul’s cottage. Jackson Dillon

23.01.2022 Adventures with people you love - life doesn't get any better than that! We picked up a WA Heritage Award for the fantastic new Lightkeeper's Cottage Interpretive Centre last month, so definitely keep a couple of hours spare to climb the lighthouse, check out the interactive interp centre and have lunch with a lighthouse view in the on-site cafe. With school holidays just around the corner we definitely recommend booking ahead, for here and any other spots you're keen to vis...it. Thanks for the tag, @buzzbllz1 - we hope you had a ball!

23.01.2022 Did someone say lamb and gravy rolls? It’s a fantastic day of celebrations.

22.01.2022 Happy International Lighthouse Day! There’s no happier feeling than completing the 124km Cape Track - just ask Cape to Cape Explorer Tours

19.01.2022 Wanted: Lighthouse Keeper. Retired lighthouse keeper Ron Taylor shares memories and how he got the job.

18.01.2022 Dreamy skies this evening at Cape Leeuwin We're loving the warmer weather as much as we love this photo by @__stai__ Sara Tai- thanks so much for sharing your creativity and talent! Fancy climbing the tower and exploring the historic grounds? We're open every day (except Christmas, busy indulging then!) and would love to share this special place with you. Bookings are recommended for the fully guided tours, as they are filling up quickly especially at weekends.

17.01.2022 There's a huge benefit to these cloudy spring days - dreamy sunsets, just like this one! We this photo, @_stai_ - thanks for tagging us!

15.01.2022 West Aussies have really got behind #wanderoutyonder and it's such a delight to welcome so many 'locals' to the lighthouse. Problem is, we all think we know our own back yard and so we don't necessarily do tours, so Your Margaret River Region and Western Australia are getting behind a fantastic campaign to encourage us all to book tours and experiences. To really get to know our wondrous state. Here at Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse we were chuffed to be featured in the #MargaretRiv...er #30days30ways campaign on Day 5 - See the Light.... "She’s been keeping sailors safe since 1896, and there’s no better way to experience Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse than to climb aboard a guided tour. See the light and the original 3.5-tonne crystal lens and take in the ripper view of where two oceans kiss. You might even see a passing whale or dolphin, if you’re lucky. The Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse Precinct picked up a WA Heritage Award recently, so be sure to check out the Lightkeeper’s Cottage Interpretive Centre while you’re there." - thanks The Margaret River Region! Matt Deakin From Miles Away

15.01.2022 It's International Lighthouse Day this Saturday 22 August - the best excuse for a visit to Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse! You can check out the two-way radio, broadcasting to over 392 lighthouses all over the globe. Local spinners and weavers will be displaying their skills and selling their creations and Augusta Marine Rescue will have boats on display Saturday morning. The local radio station Two Oceans FM will be broadcasting live from the lighthouse grounds. This is also the f...irst year The Lightkeeper's Cottage Interpretive Centre has been open, so it's extra cause for celebration. The centre opened in December 2019, and won a WA Heritage Award last month. Entry is $7.50 for adults, and kids are free, and we're raising funds for Augusta Marine Rescue. There'll be a delicious sausage sizzle on site too. We'd love to see you here! If you'd like to climb the lighthouse tower in a fully guided tour, please book ahead to guarantee a place on a tour. You can book online here: https://www.margaretriverattractions.com//cape-leeuwin-li/

15.01.2022 Such striking texture and colour in the granite, lashed by the ocean for millennia. It's easy for us to forget what a harrowing experience it must have been, rounding Cape Leeuwin in a timber ship 200 or so years ago! Back then they relied on the moon and paper maps for navigation - now there's a plethora of electronic gizmos and the steadfast beam of light, visible 40+ kilometres out at sea. We love this photo by @simonphillipsphoto - thanks for visiting, and sharing with us!

13.01.2022 This is a rarity, and we're super excited to share it with you. Right here, in this ripper photo by local lensman Gordon Becker, you can see where two oceans meet by the lighthouse, and where two rivers meet in the background. It's a super special place, Augusta and Cape Leeuwin, for so many reasons, and this is just one of them. The Indian Ocean meets the Southern Ocean, and the Blackwood meets Scott River. Gordon Becker Photo - you've outdone yourself mate! ... Now, if we're to share a message about the lighthouse, it's to ask you to please book ahead for your guided lighthouse tour. Winter's usually whisper quiet, but as this is the year to #wanderoutyonder, we're stoked to welcome more West Aussies than ever before. Book ahead, and we can't wait to see you!

09.01.2022 Paul Sofilas wakes up at the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse every day. Surrounded by the Southern and Indian Oceans, under the tallest lighthouse in mainland Australia this is the place that Paul calls home. Having grown up in the south west and then living away for a stint, Paul pinches himself every day that he landed the position of caretaker at the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse a good 20 years ago. Paul’s knowledge of Augusta’s natural assets are second to none, and it was a pleas...ure to hear his tips. Read on to find out about his favourite beaches, sunset spot and more... https://www.margaretriver.com/stories-local-favourites-pau/ Rachel Claire @fieldnotes__
