25.01.2022 Sunrise this morning! It is well documented that spending time in nature has a multitude of beneficial outcomes for health and well being. It is great to see that the foreshore has been busy with those of you getting your daily outdoor exercise by cycling, walking or running along the baytrail. A massive step in keeping a positive mindset in the current climate. More info here:... https://ab.co/3f8kiC3 There is also a number of community initiatives to support those doing it tough such as free meals in Rye every Wednesday evening through YMCA Mornington Peninsula: https://bit.ly/30cu561 We hope to see more friendly faces (or mask and eyes) at the foreshore. Stay safe

25.01.2022 Today is National Tree Day! Whilst in the current climate we were unable to hold a community tree planting event, rest assured with the fact we have planted upwards of 3,000 plants this year! Including at least 1,500 trees. Here's hoping the current case trend steadies and we pull through this crisis with minimal loss of life. Stay safe!

24.01.2022 The Capel Sound Foreshore Committee of Management and staff hope the community is keeping well. We have had many inquiries after the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council (MPSC) decision to postpone their camping season until February 2021. We would like to reinforce that we are completely separate from MPSC. The committee operates in line with the Department of Environment, Land, Water, and Planning (DELWP) regulations and guidelines. ... At present, there has been no further direction from DELWP, DHHS, or, any Victorian Government department regarding camping in Metropolitan Melbourne. As such, no further changes have been made to our current position. To this end, the potential re-opening date of 19th December is still in place, we are recording interest for the peak summer period via the waitlist here: https://bit.ly/2I5S1kA As has been our position all year, if government restrictions prevent the camping season from going ahead, all bookings will be offered a full refund. Edit 11:09am: Based on feedback we would like to reiterate that the safety of campers, the community, and staff is the most important aspect of the situation and if the camping season cannot go ahead safely, it will not go ahead. 21.01.2022 Due to the continuing COVID-19 crisis in Victoria, the committee has decided that it is in the best interests of campers, the public, the community and staff to delay the start of the CSF camping season to December 19th 2020. For campers: > We will not be accepting any new bookings for the period between September 1st and December 19th.... > If you have an upcoming booking anytime between September 1st and December 19th with a departure date before December 19th, your booking will be cancelled and refunded in full. > If you have an upcoming booking anytime between September 1st and December 19th with a departure date on or after December 19th, you will be contacted by one of our staff members to discuss options for your booking. Ie, part refund, or extension after departure date if the site is available. > If you have a booking for the peak summer period and beyond, ie, December 19th and onwards, your booking remains unaffected at this time. > We have reduced our staffing in line with Stage 4 government restrictions and as such it may take up to two weeks from today for you to receive your refund or be contacted by staff. Please bear with us to complete this process. For the local community: > Essential grounds maintenance, monitoring for vandalism and rubbish collection will continue throughout this period. > Contact us on (03) 5986 4382 or [email protected] to notify us of issues that require attention. The committee and staff have been working hard in the reserve this year and were excited for the campers and community alike to enjoy them this coming season, but we all must play a part in containing COVID-19. Here is hoping that the current restrictions are successful in protecting the health of the community and the remainder of the camping season can go ahead.

16.01.2022 The Committee and staff at CSF are looking forward to welcoming campers to the foreshore on December 19th. Following extensive collaboration with DELWP, DHHS and other committees of management, CSF has developed a comprehensive COVIDSafe plan. This is now available for any interested party to view on our website here: https://bit.ly/3lRJhNq We have a small amount of availability for the summer peak period, bookings are available online here: https://bit.ly/37GVtve

12.01.2022 The Committee would like to update all stakeholders that we intend to open Capel Sound Foreshore for camping from 19th December 2020 providing the COVID-19 situation in Victoria does not deteriorate and the Victorian Government implements no further changes to restrictions regarding camping. As with every aspect of our society in 2020, the camping experience will be modified to previous years. To ensure the health and safety of campers, staff, and the wider community, a numbe...r of additional terms and conditions will be implemented; these will be communicated to all concerned in the near future. These terms and conditions will be employed alongside additional measures to be undertaken by CSF in terms of cleaning, sanitisation, and administrative strategies. Compliance with CHO directions and additional CSF terms and conditions will result in a safer summer of camping. At present, the summer peak period is fully booked and the waitlist is at capacity. Reservations can be made online for dates after February 1st, 2021 Here: https://bit.ly/3nEWBFU

11.01.2022 Unfortunately, our waitlist is now at capacity. 11.01.2022 The committee and staff at CSF hope the community is fairing well post lockdown and staying healthy. There has been no further direction from the Victorian Government regarding camping in Metropolitan Melbourne. To this end, the potential re-opening date of the 19th December is still in place and we will continue to take bookings from this point onwards. Upon re-opening, there will be additional processes in place to ensure a COVID-Safe camping experience, these are yet to b...e finalised and will be drawn from the latest government directives concerning health and safety practices in relation to COVID-19. We now have substantial peak period availability and encourage everyone interested in camping to submit an entry to the waitlist. IMPORTANT: If you have already submitted an entry, please submit again to update your preferences as there is a wide variety of sites available and it is likely we can find a site to suit more specific preferences. We will be contacting applicants with site options from the 2nd of November. Please follow this link to enter the waitlist: https://www.capelsoundforeshore.com.au/20202021-summer-wait In the event that COVID-19 restrictions prevent the camping season from going ahead, full refunds will be issued. Terms and conditions of camping will be amended to reflect this. Here's hoping case numbers stay manageable, our vulnerable are kept safe and we can open up for summer.

10.01.2022 You may have noticed construction works at Truemans Road. Work has begun building the new public amenity block as part of stage one of the Truemans Road redevelopment plan. We will keep everyone updated as work progresses. More info on the full plan can be found here:... https://www.capelsoundforeshore.com.au/truemansroad

10.01.2022 Capel Sound Foreshore reopens for camping from the 18th February. Great weather next few days so jump online and book a site

09.01.2022 Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus funereus) have been frequenting CSF over the last 6 weeks. Historically, they have been seen regularly at Capel Sound before disappearing in recent years. Their return is welcome and if you would like to see them yourself you can usually find them hanging around section G in Tootgarook! Their appearance might be an omen for the AFL Grand final this week? #yellowandblack

08.01.2022 It is important we all play a part in stopping the spread and as such we will be be pulling back our foreshore activity to essential maintenance and monitoring tasks in order to reduce staff movement. During this time we will increase monitoring for vandalism and ensure that all tracks are cleared and safe to use for your one hour of exercise per day. The Tootgarook boat ramp will not be cleared of sand until the restrictions on receational fishing are due to be lifted.... Obviously, there is still huge unknowns associated with the camping season and we will keep everyone updated as the situation and government directives develop over time. If you do notice anything that requires urgent maintenance. Please call the office on (03) 5986 4382 and leave a message or email [email protected] The committee and staff at CSF hope that the community is keeping well and staying safe in these uncertain times. ______________________________________________ CSF is a not for profit Committee of Management appointed by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning. Separate from Mornington Peninsula Shire, we manage the foreshore reserve North of Point Nepean Road between Shirlow avenue in Tootgarook and Chinaman's creek in Capel Sound.

06.01.2022 As the peak summer period comes to a close, the Committee and staff would like to thank the local community, campers, day visitors and anyone else who visited the foreshore for a COVIDSafe summer. We are thankful for the wide compliance and adoption of new camping conditions related to COVID-19 and hope that we can review them in the near future as the disease is tackled worldwide. There is now availability for February and beyond and encourage anyone interested in camping t...o take advantage of the off-peak rates and usually excellent Feb weather. Labour day weekend and the Easter weekend are also filling fast. Make online bookings here: https://bit.ly/3qVbg1w We hope everyone in the community is staying safe.
