25.01.2022 Nutrition guidelines from the Heart Foundation on red meat, eggs and dairy have been recently updated based on the latest scientific evidence. In summary: - Limit red meat to 350g (raw weight) per week. This includes unprocessed beef, lamb, veal and pork and could mean 1 - 3 meat based meals a week, depending on how big you like your steak! Base your other meals around heart-healthy protein from plant sources such as beans, lentils and tofu, as well as fish and seafood, a...nd some eggs and lean poultry. - No limit on the number of eggs per week (previously no more than 6 was recommended). If you have type 2 diabetes however, eating more than 7 eggs a week has been shown to increase your risk of heart disease. - Full fat dairy is just as healthy as reduced fat, so take your pick. This refers to unflavoured milk, yoghurt and cheese. Those with existing heart disease or high cholesterol are likely to benefit from choosing reduced fat varieties however. The advice on eating mostly vegetables, fruit and whole grains still stands, with plant-rich eating patterns such as the Mediterranean diet, with inclusion of heart healthy oils from olive oil, avocado, nuts and seeds, being associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease. The full guidelines are available on the Heart Foundation website if you want to read more! See more

13.01.2022 Another fantastic video from Healthy Tasmania, which shows what parents can do to look after their children's natural ability to regulate eating according to hunger and fullness. As parents it's so important to listen to and trust our children when they tell us they are full. This develops the child's trust in their own body cues as they grow.

Seriously one of my favourite experiences ever and amazing that it is literally on our doorstep. Already missing the Cape to Cape track and planning to head back to Quinninup falls with the kids tomorrow!
