13.01.2022 Since 2013, the Regional Wellbeing team at the University of Canberra has been asking people across Australia, in remote, rural and urban regions, about the liveability of their community, their wellbeing, and their ability to cope with challenging times. The program produces reports which show survey results across Australia as well as for specific groups such as farmers. Many organisations use the data to track the quality of life in their region and to advocate for better ...services and resources for the communities they serve. The end goal is to improve the quality of life across regional Australia. In previous surveys, remote communities were severely under-represented, and we’d like to change that. Learn more on our website and please take five minutes to share your perspective now. Visit https://bit.ly/regionalwellbeingNRM for more information and complete the survey before 31 October.

08.01.2022 Weve talked a lot about the Bureau of Meteorology weather balloons and targets over the years and here is what we found at this years Chilli Beach Clean-up in... the Kutini-Payamu National Park in Cape York. 5 x weather balloon bases - you can see how thick the balloon neck which gives you an idea of how big the balloon gets before exploding into shredded balloon bits. Depending on the cloud cover different coloured balloons can be released - weve found pink, white, red, orange and now blue BoM balloons during AMDI clean-ups. 5 x weather balloon radio sondes, which are the electronic bits that collect the weather data. 12 x pieces of polystyrene weather balloon targets, that help it float into the air - although BoM did let us know that they transitioned to cardboard weather balloon targets back in 2014/2015. 3 x plastic bases that connect everything together. Thats from 6.5km of beach in remote Cape York. Still amazed that we allow federal government agencies to proactively pollute - every day - around Australia - with a reliance that someone else will pick up the mess.
