Active ingredient is another word for generic ingredient. It’s the name of the actual medicine in your prescription. ... In addition to the uncomfortable and sometimes painful symptoms of the disease, psoriasis can significantly affect a sufferers quality of life. Some studies of people with psoriasis show that up to 70% will avoid swimming, and 40% will avoid playing sport. 12% will even avoid leaving their house, with many people experiencing anxiety and/or depression. While theres no known cure for psoriasis yet, ther...e are treatments which can help to control the symptoms. These include topical creams or ointments, pills or injections, and UV or light therapy administered by a dermatologist. 03.01.2022 Sharing a meal and some drinks with friends or family is a joyful experience for many of us unless it results in painful heartburn Heartburn- aka gastroesophageal reflux or indigestion - affects 70% of all Australians at some stage during their life. Its usually experienced: after a large or rich meal after eating and drinking a lot... if youre feeling anxious, or when you are pregnant. Food is often (but not always) a trigger, so its important to recognise that large meals, fatty foods, chocolate, coffee, alcohol, cigarettes, cola drinks and peppermint have all been associated with the onset of reflux. Some medications can aggravate or worsen reflux or indigestion. 02.01.2022 Cannabis over the counter in Australian pharmacies The News has been full of articles about the Therapeutic Goods Administrations decision to make cannabis available over-the- counter in Australian pharmacies from June 2021. While the headline is largely true, there is a bit more to it. TGA will permit the sale of cannabis products that are purely cannabidiol (CBD). This is the ingredient in cannabis that has actions in the treatment of pain, insomnia and anxiety. It i...s also used (as a prescription medicine) for the treatment of epilepsy. There are other ingredients in some types of cannabis; tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the ingredient responsible for the high that is associated with recreational use of marijuana. THC products have medicinal uses in multiple sclerosis, muscle spasms, chronic severe pain and more. There are NO plans to make THC products available over-the-counter. There are other restrictions on the new CBD listings. Supply will be limited to 30 days per package; a maximum daily dosage of 60mg will be enforced; it will not be available for children, and must be packaged in a child-resistant container. And importantly, the products available under this listing must be registered on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods. Currently there are no CBD products registered for sale in Australia, although with this newly-announced listing manufacturers may be prompted to apply for registration and listing. None of this is designed to interfere with patients needing access to medicinal cannabis today. The supply of medicinal cannabis is complex, requiring permits from state/territory and federal authorities and the clerical requirements are challenging to say the least.
