21.01.2022 Message from the founder. For years I’ve preferred anonymity in Business. I’m not someone who likes to put myself out there in a big way personally, the vulnerability feels unnerving somehow. But lately it’s occurred to me maybe I should begin to tell more of my story. So here I am taking the leap. I am a bass player, photographer and videographer by trade, I founded Club Band back in 2009 as a way to get in and around Weddings which I LOVE. Since starting we’ve literally ...done thousands of weddings in Australia and the UK and over the years I’ve come to realise more and more that weddings are precious. A couple of years ago I had some major life circumstances which forced me to re-examine my life. In particular ask the question; Although weddings are packed with significance for those involved, how can we meaningfully extend that significance out to make the world a better place? As I asked that question I noticed a trend of awesome Brides and Grooms wanting their wedding spend to have more of a social impact. People want a 4th dimension to the meaning of their marriage. After all, why shouldn’t a celebration of love between two people begin by helping others too. To that end, fast forward 3 years and another whole story, my wife and I have sold up everything and moved to Bali, Indonesia with our little family. We’re living and working away from the Tourist areas focussing on communities with less infrastructure who don’t benefit from the tourism. We’ve since learned to speak Indonesian and are currently setting up a new wedding project training local people photography, videography and business skills. We’re creating a community helping each other learn career and life skills. Together with My wife and business partners we are also supporting local community leaders to role out locally targeted micro projects depending on their specific needs. Much of what we receive from weddings in Australia gets invested in projects and and people here. In the next week, we will be sharing more and running some amazing Instagram comps to showcase some of the projects we support here.
