17.01.2022 Welcome to day 30 of our 31 women for 31 days campaign, celebrating International Women's Day throughout March #IWD2021. Today we shine a light on Belinda Kenda...ll. Bel is a Worimi, Barkindji, Wailwan, Wiradjuri woman from NSW. She is Director and General Manager of consultancy business Curijo Pty Ltd and Director of the Canberra Indigenous Business Network. Bel answers our three questions below: CWB: What business/work achievement are you most proud of? Bel: I’m proud of the business journey I’ve been on over the last 10 years when I firstly became a sole trader, then creating Curijo Pty Ltd and being a part of collectively creating the Canberra Indigenous Business Network. I’m proud of the strong relationship built with my two business partners Tina and Darren and how we have shared our knowledge and learnings to weave the Aboriginal and western worlds together in business, whilst having Aboriginal cultural values as the foundation of our business and all our work. CWB: Why do you #ChooseToChallenge ? Bel: I #ChooseToChallenge to honour the Aboriginal people who have gone before us that have fought for change. I #ChooseToChallenge for change and equality for Australia to be a place where all have the opportunity to heal, thrive and be happy. CWB: What are three of your favourite female-owned Canberra businesses? Bel: Ellen Arena-Mikac at Dimension Hair Studio, Laurie McDonald at Canberra Furnished Accommodation, Jo Kamira at Capital Workplace. I’m blessed to know and be supported by so many awesome women in business leadership.

12.01.2022 Yumma everyone, These are strange days indeed. I'm feeling a little anxious. My daughter is about to get on a plane in Doha to fly home to Canberra. Her gap year in London has been cut short but I'm very excited to be seeing her again. I was looking for some self-care tips and came across this on the Lifeline page. It may help anyone who is also feeling anxious Manage your exposure to media coverage as this can increase feelings of fear and anxiety. Be mindful of sources of...Continue reading
10.01.2022 The Sex Discrimination Commissioner has handed down her report into sexual harassment in the workplace with Indigenous, LGBTIQA, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse people and women more like to experience harassment. If there's ever a time to change the HR narrative it's now. "Jenkins could not recommend the systematic abandonment of HR in companies across Australia, even though time and time again they have been complicit in supporting the harasser. But she has a clear message for employers: you must lift your game. Too much responsibility is on the shoulders of individuals to stand up for themselves." #culturallyappropriatehr #hr https://www.canberratimes.com.au//harassment-report-a-ra/
09.01.2022 With all the panic going on about coronavirus, here are some much needed words of wisdom
08.01.2022 It was great to speak with Paula Kruger on ABC Radio this afternoon. Our top tips for working from home? 1. Relax. Whilst there's professionalism in the workplace, you are allowed to relax it a bit when you are working from home. 2. Kids, pets and other family members are a fact of life. It's your home, your space, there will be noise. 3. Make sure you have clear spaces between your work area and your home area. If you have to work in a common area, like the kitchen table mak...e sure you pack up at the end of the day. 4. In the workplace, when we need a break we go for a coffee run or annoy a colleague. You need to have similar breaks at home. Get up, go for a walk, stretch, Make a coffee, check out ABC news. Even a short stint on social media is okay. 5. For Managers relax. People want to give their best. Trust them. Finally, this a great opportunity for the workplace to reset and for us to think about how we work. To work smarter and to realise that we are not and should not be defined by our jobs. #culturallyappropriateHR
