25.01.2022 Queensland States 2020 - Bench Only All Time Australian Raw Bench Record set by Andrew Cooper - 290kg

16.01.2022 Queensland States 2020

11.01.2022 CAPO STATE REP - TASMANIA Craig McCallum has stepped up to be the new representative for CAPO in Tasmania! This will give Tassie lifters a local contact point when they are looking to enter CAPO Comps on the mainland of Australia with the view to making it to the World Powerlifting Congress (WPC) World Championships - if the lifter qualifies at CAPO Nationals.... Getting to compete in different exotic locations around the world, such as Finland last year, is a Bucket List item for many lifters and CAPO provides a very well laid out path to get there through our lifelong connections with the WPC. To compete at Worlds you must enter as part of the National Team - there are no individual entries. This is all coordinated for you by CAPO President - Andrea Sterns - who is very experienced in the process being the International Coordinator, World Referee and World Champion herself! She knows exactly what is needed for a successful campaign when representing Australia in the beloved green and gold! For those not wanting to travel the world, CAPO offers numerous national level competitions with World Sanctioning that means they are eligible for World Records. On the subject of records, CAPO has the oldest standing records of all Australian Powerlifting Feds with one dating back to 1989 that has not been broken in over 30 years! These records are set under the watchful eyes of the expert CAPO Referees, some of whom are regularly invited to adjudicate competitions around the world. It is well known that records set at CAPO Comps are made with lifts of unquestionable quality. A little about the new State Rep. Craig is an M2 Lifter (Masters 45-49) who has competed in 3 weight classes 110-125-140 with his 660kg Total made up of S-262.5 B-155, D-250 giving him a couple of #1 finishes in his first 4 comps. Powerlifting is his family sport and his partner Jess has a couple more years of competition under her belt having started in 2016 to accrue 13 comps including Proraw X and XI. Her elite lifting includes S-235, B122.5, D250.5 and the outstanding 600 Total putting her among only 9 Australian women to have achieved this significant number! In fact, only 54 women in the world have ever done this feat and Jess is currently ranked #27 for Deadlift All Time and #4 in Australia. Jess’s son, Ryan Williams (Ryan Williams #5 OpenPowerlifting) also has four comps under his belt in the 16-17yo Teen Division. At his most recent he smashed through the 500kg barrier with S-220, B-90, D-210, T520! It won’t be long before he is pushing for top spot in the family. That will certainly light up their training sessions. Welcome aboard Craig! We look forward to seeing Tasmanian lifters making the trip over to compete on our platforms.

09.01.2022 Results for the National Deadlift Competition are up on the website along with the updated Record Charts. OpenPowerlifting have been provided with the Scoresheet and their website will be updated within a few days. Congratulations to all lifters and especially the Place Winners and Record Breakers!... 98 Competitors. 22 CAPO Australian Records. 11 WPC World Records.

08.01.2022 The Deadliest Deadlift & Bench Records have been updated and Results posted to the Webpage and sent to OpenPowerlifting.

07.01.2022 Lots of records broken at Queensland States! The charts have been updated on the website. One Female Open and four Male Open Records including the All Time, All Feds, All Weight Classes Biggest Raw Bench Press ever by an Australian Lifter- 290kg by Andrew Cooper!... It looks like the Queenslanders are going to be the dominant force in Perth next year as they have taken a number of records off WA Lifters this time.

05.01.2022 For those in West Australia wanting to give powerlifting ago this comp would be ideal!!

02.01.2022 Hall Of Fame World Powerlifting Congress Yesterday as MC of the CAPO National Deadlift Competition - South Australian Event - I had the privilege of announcing ...this prestigious recognition of Yuris Sterns and Andrea Sterns for their achievements and many years of contributing to the sport of Powerlifting! (I did not present the award as that is done at the World Championships by the WPC President and Covid prevented that this year.) Both are World Champions. Both are World Referees. Andrea is the President of CAPO Powerlifting Australia. Yuris is one of the 3 Founding Fathers of the sport of Powerlifting in Australia. He was the Head Coach of the Australian Powerlifting Team and personally coached many champions and World Record breakers. Yuris is the person who had the lifting order of competitions changed world wide so that Bench came between Squats and Deadlifts. What a massive influence on our sport! I know they both feel very honoured by this acknowledgment as do all those who know them and benefit from what they have done for us! Congratulations Yuris & Andrea! Footnote: I have tagged current CAPO Officials and the 9 CAPO Hall of Fame Inductees: Mason Jardine Laurie Butler Taylor Young Adam Coe Charlie Coleiro Dino Toci Ange Galati Yuris Sterns Barry Murray
