25.01.2022 Dear Filhos da Bahia students and parents, As you all know, we, as a community, have been experiencing challenging times during the last few weeks. After having to cancel our Batizado festivities in March, we had to find new ways of practicing capoeira, sharing our passion while keeping the community safe. We have closed the school to the public to comply with the current COVID-19 related restrictions but managed to maintain all adult classes as normal via Zoom. It has been g...reat to be able to still share training with a good number of our adult students. We hope to be able to do so with the kids as well. That is why, we are now opening the Zoom classes to the kids. Only our Wednesday and Saturday kids classes will be given. If your child usually attends class on Friday, please consider changing it to any of the available days. To ensure the safety of the children online, those classes will be subject to registration, so that no non-registered attendee can join the class. Cyber-safety is a major concern for our kids and be assured that we will do our best to keep our kids safe on the web. The parents will be required to log the child in before the class. Please also make sure that your child has sufficient space and no dangerous objects in the room where they choose to follow the online class. Veranda or garden lawn would be ideal but if their own bedroom or your lounge room have sufficient space it is also fine. Parents are welcome to join the kids’ class at no charge as it is important to remain active in those times of isolation. Kids will also be able to join both Wednesday and Saturday classes for the single class term fee. We will send the links to the classes weekly on Sundays, please register then or as early in the week as possible for the week’s classes so that I don’t travel the school early if I don’t have to. If there is no registration by 12pm on the day of the class, this day’s class will be cancelled. 20.01.2022 Dear Filhos da Bahia students, parents and friends, It is with a heavy heart that we have to cancel this week’s Batizado due to the uncertain conditions and restrictions regarding the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation. The new restrictions on international travellers mean that none of our guest travelling to Australia from today would have been able to attend the event due to the 14 days isolation now required for international travellers. We also want to avoid our community t...o be exposed to persons they don’t normally interact with during their normal day to day routines. As we stated earlier, we will keep an eye on the government recommendations and comply. The current guidelines do not go against the normal routine of the classes, so as of today, classes continue as normal. Regarding Flavour of Bahia event (19th of March), it is cancelled for the general public. For the students and parents who were planning to attend, we will have a smaller dinner night at the school as a lot of the ingredients were already bought and ready. We will contact you with further details regarding that night at the school. The Brazil Axé Night Party (21st of March) at Copacabana International is cancelled. For these events, tickets holders will be issued a refund via TryBooking. Once again, we are very sad to have to cancel this week’s festivities, but the current conditions are not allowing to have an enjoyable and safe event. However, we have already looked at all our options and we are rescheduling the event, you can already save the dates: Thursday 10th to Sunday 13th of September 2020. Some airlines are also agreeing to reschedule flights at no fee, so having a date to request a reschedule can help for our international and interstate guests. We are sorry once again to have to cancel but we will always do our best to protect our community and with the information we have today we feel it is the best decision. 19.01.2022 Dear Filhos da Bahia students, parents and friends, Are you ready for more capoeira in 2020? The year already started great with the adults’ classes resuming since the 6th of January and we are looking forward to seeing again our young capoeiristas back in action after a well-deserved summer break. Summer holidays didn’t stop some of them even coming to attend some classes with the adults. That’s the way!... Kids Wednesday, Friday and Saturday classes are officially back on respectively from: - Wednesday 29th of January, 4.30pm to 5.30pm - Friday 31st of January, 4.30pm to 5.30pm - Saturday 1st of February, 10.30 am to 11.30am In the beginning of the term, we encourage kids to bring a friend, school buddy, brother, sister, cousin, etc for a trial class. Even parents can join in during our Saturday classes that are our Family Classes. Some parents are already doing it, either participating in the movement class, or helping with the music which is a great way of sharing a good time between kids and parents. Thank you to all the parents for the continuous support to our community by bringing your kids to capoeira class, trusting us to pass on this artform that we love so much and also by giving your own time and energy during the classes to support the kids. We will, of course, be dedicating our training and our time to prepare for our Batizado and Grading event that will take place between the 19th and the 22nd of March 2020. Save the date! Registration and payments are already open. As we have had new teens attending 3 or more classes per week, we are introducing the Unlimited Classes term package. Our school will then be closed until it is declared safe to reopen.
