24.01.2022 The cottage's rose bush in the front garden is looking the best it has for years after the rain.

21.01.2022 Congratulations to Sarah Donnelley from Wilcannia Central School who has won the ARIA award for best Music Teacher. Sarah asked her students, from kindergarte...n to year 6, to film short videos of themselves singing to her rendition of From Little Things Big Things Grow, the beloved song by Carmody and Paul Kelly. As the song went online with verses rewritten to capture the lockdown experience in Wilcannia, Sarah devised a way to overcome unreliable phone and internet services and link the pupils, joining nine kilometres of construction safety tape through the dusty streets of Wilcannia and organising the kids to come outside and take hold.

20.01.2022 Surprisingly, after being mowed down continually by kangaroos during the drought, the front yard is again a carpet of gazanias at the cottage. Didn't think they got a chance to produce a single flower last spring to produce any new seeds, obviously drought & kangaroo proof.

14.01.2022 This little guy has made it into his second season after hatching on site (he spent most of last year living in a hanging pot plant). The dog (German Shepherd) is molting, as they do, & I so want to pull that dog hair out of his mouth...he's very quiet, has obliged photo sessions for 2 years now but I don't think even he will sit still for that long.

08.01.2022 We had to say farewell today to this sweet (probably very geriatric) galah who chose to live out his last few months with us, totally free & under our feet constantly but in an environment he felt safe.

08.01.2022 Lake Pamamaroo Sunset. A little bit of extra light makes for an interesting effect. Photo taken 27.9.2020.

04.01.2022 This is what greeted me in the cottage this morning after long term guests, film crew girls Emily & Hannah (from the new RFDS TV series being filmed here), left to finally fly home. They said they considered Cottonwood "home" during their stay & loved how quiet the location is.

04.01.2022 What would you do while waiting for a swollen creek to subside after a heavy downpour? Silverton artist John Dynon got creative!
