25.01.2022 I was racing the rain while finishing farm chores last night. The models said rain after 7pm and clouds started gathering just after 6pm. We only got 4mm, but there will be more tomorrow and Tuesday. Feeling hopeful for the oats.

25.01.2022 "Do I have to eat the whole thing?" No, just enough to get your rumen started and you can manage your own digestion. Day 3 lessons.

23.01.2022 The majority of our lambs are 4-6 weeks old now so we are tagging and vaccinating tomorrow. The boys will also get banded, but as they are shedding sheep, they all get to keep their cute little lamby tails.

21.01.2022 Day 157 1 boy 1 girl well done Copper and again thank you Naturaliste Veterinary Services I had booked ultrasound for this morning as she still had no udder d...evelopment, so thought it was a phantom pregnancy like sister Frisia. But at 1.30 she showed first signs, at 4 she was making a nest at 6.30 she was in active labour but i could see she wasn't right both backwards and wrongly presented. Big boy has wry neck, but both have had some colostrum. Mum got a shot of Oxytocin and infusion of calcium so i hope her milk comes in... she is a great mum for a first timer at 4! See more

20.01.2022 Dinner Time. Little Merlin zoomed in with the doelings, but Melody wasn't too fat behind...

20.01.2022 "Official" due date, day 150, today, so in solidarity with our Victorian friends Copper is in lockdown in the maternity wing. She is not very happy with me, but it is easier to monitor her food intake in the last few days. Mum had her at day 152, but she is only just starting to form an udder so could be later. We have had kids between 146 and 153 days. She has some acacia, sheoak, banksia and marri to go with her oaten and lucerne hay

20.01.2022 Our front revegetation planting is full of these, they are stunning.

13.01.2022 It was spa day for the bucks and Angora goats yesterday, with hoof trims and haircuts ahead of shearing next month. We had to haul Puck onto the stand, but it is his favourite place now

13.01.2022 MiMi is due in 2 weeks! She is a wide load, at least 60cm across but unbelievably she still gets in the kids creep feeder which has a 40cm opening!

13.01.2022 Braaaaad, we need a portable pop-up pen in case we need to help any more sheep with lambing... how will it work he asked? Sky hooks ? I said. Lions Shed sale 4 bed bases, brad cut holes for a drop in pin and Bob's your uncle. Thanks also to Bettina and her tiny hands from Naturaliste Vets for pulling twin girls after 1 got stuck.

12.01.2022 Copper's Coco Chanel is a long legged beauty. She showed big brother Cooper how to do steps. Day 3 lessons.

12.01.2022 A lot of beekeepers are getting very nervous about lack of feed with no buds yet on our main endemic flowering trees. I am very glad we selected 5 species from different areas of Australia to cover the whole year in our bee fodder planting 5 years ago. The Eucalyptus platypus is usually found on the south coast between Albany and Esperence and flowers around December.

12.01.2022 Millie has discovered the joys of digging a big hole to drop her ball in. Fine in the horse yard, not so good in front of the house.

12.01.2022 The forest is full of wildflowers, these are the pinks, purple and blues.

08.01.2022 My #smudgesoap and #natural #beeswax balms and deodorants available 7 days a week 9am-1pm at our new Pop-up Co-op at Broadwater Shopping Village

07.01.2022 These are the yellows and reds including some i have never seen here before. We have quite a few species classed as uncommon like the broad leaf brown pea, the silky blue orchid and the holly leaf hovea.

05.01.2022 We got a long legged brown brown girl, we called her Naomi. She hangs out with my Lily and Leifie. #Wiltshirehorn #wiltipoll

05.01.2022 "You are taking us where?" First day with the flock for Lily and Liefie (darling in Afrikaans). Liefie's mum recognised her immediately and came straight over! Then turned around and took her sisters away.

04.01.2022 I am not an enthusiastic gardener and limit planting to celery, beets, beans, onions and garlic in winter and tomatoes, rocket, basil, pumpkins and zucchini in summer. So i love trading with good gardeners. We traded 10kg of honey for a box of goodies. I turned the rhubarb into stewed (left), pickle (middle) and jam with vanilla and ginger. I then made some grapefruit jelly.

02.01.2022 I was competing with the cockatoos to get the marri branches for the goats browse
