25.01.2022 Did someone say 'Bring on summer! ' Wash your mouth out haha A bit tropical out on the ranges today. Lots of water, a shady spot for morning tea break and back into the single arrow round. We're unfortunately starting to wind down for the year, but we're aiming to have systems in place to bring in visitors and new shooters in the new year. I'm sure that in the future, Covid will become one of those words that isn't said in polite company or shared out loud in public places. ...It will be associated with the year that created more challenges than we could have imagined. Having said that, we're up for the challenge and will do our very best to hit the ground running in the new year. The recent rains have brought some green pick into the paddocks but it also brought more than our fair share of mozzies No PB scores to brag about but you know what? If a PB was easy to get, it wouldn't be so special would it? Take care in the heat. Stay hydrated. Don't forget your electrolyte drinks now and then. See more

25.01.2022 It doesn't seem to be all that long ago that we hadn't even heard of Corona virus, the closest we could have associated those words with would have been a cold beer. Wow, what a difference such a small thing can make to our world. We hope every one is coping well with the restrictions, maintaining good hygiene practices and keeping a close eye on friends and family's physical and mental health. Don't lose focus on the light at the end of the tunnel for us to be back sh...ooting at the club. We're keeping our finger on the pulse so that when restrictions allow, we can hit the ground running. The latest news prevents us from club activities until midnight 31 May or until reviewed. We can't predict when we can return to shoots but rest assured, we're keeping a close eye on it! Stay safe people, make use of this time to do some preventative maintenance, fine tune your arrows and be ready to bounce back. See more

25.01.2022 We had a good turn-out today with a good mix of age groups. Shooting Whoop Whoop range is usually a challenge with some well placed targets hidden in gullies or off in the distance forcing us to shoot through trees and shrubs. Such are the challenges with field archery. Not to be perturbed, young Liam decides it's time to pull out a PB score of 394. Not just once, but twice, repeating 394 in the single arrow round. Well done Liam, it takes a good archer to be consistent wi...th high scores and you're doing just that! A couple of us had a few 'oopsies' along the way but managed to get through the day smiling. When you choose a sport like field archery, you're not always competing against others, mostly you're competing against yourself. At some time or other, we've all shot an A score on each target but it just hasn't happened yet that they were all in the same round! That elusive 400 is definitely within our grasp, we just have to make the ducks line up. Have a safe and healthy week everyone See more

23.01.2022 Corona virus, you won't beat the spirit of determined archers. If you're feeling a bit twitchy cos you're suffering archery withdrawals, you should probably check this out. What a fantastic initiative Targets available https://www.facebook.com/145153266203087/posts/523313985053678/

23.01.2022 Who else doesn't like wind when they're trying to shoot arrows? There's not many things more frustrating for an archer, than taking aim on a 40+m target and a gust of wind hits you from the side. That's the challenge I suppose, if it was easy, it'd be boring. No exceptional scores today but we still managed to make couple of silly mistakes and get some good runs on A's. A little bit of 'Men in Tights' moment this morning when John went and put his arrow smack in the middle of the A zone creating a great aiming point for those with following shots. While we greatly appreciate your thoughtfulness John, there's always the risk of a Robin Hooded arrow. Sorry John, I'll owe you a beer or three for that arrow.

22.01.2022 Yo peeps! While the Corona virus has been messing around with the world, Capricorn Field Archers has been chomping at the bit to get back into the field and nock up some arrows. Fortunately, we've recently been allowed to resume club activities so there was a bit of hustle and bustle working bee over the weekend in readiness of return to shoot. The unfortunate news is that we have to restrict attendance to club members only. This is not our preference obviously, but unde...r the current Covid19 social distancing restrictions, it has become necessary to err on the side of caution and hold off inviting visitors etc for a little while. So, to club members, we will resume our schedule of shoots, with next Sunday 14th June being our first shoot. There have been some new practices developed that need to be one part of our culture until we can begin living life normally again. If you intend to shoot this coming Sunday, please get in contact with me here so I can run you through the requirements before you come to shoot. It's relatively painless and surprisingly simple. Looking forward to seeing familiar faces back at the range and working on a new PB. Dust off the bow, wax that string and get some practice in. See more

19.01.2022 Check it out folks, the Bah is ready to hit the ground running in 2021. Get on it!

15.01.2022 Another fun day on the range today. A couple of us feeling a bit fatigued after such a long break from shooting the ranges. Particular note from today was Mark's top effort scoring yet another PB score, this time hitting 394. Well done Mark, you'll hit that magic 400 in no time. Young Liam was hot on his heels though, making sure Dad felt the pressure close behind him. Have a good week everyone, stay safe

14.01.2022 Bit of a froggy start to the day today. Did I say froggy? What a beautiful day to be outside enjoy this fantastic sport. No PB scores today but a few good runs of 'A' scores and a few embarrassing muddle ups that we'd prefer not to mention haha Enjoy the rest of your Sunday

13.01.2022 Bit of a foggy start this morning but it soon lifted and gave way to a spectacular day. Life really is good when you get the chance to flick some sticks on a day like today. Gotta wonder what non-archers are doing with themselves? Yeah nah, let's not do that No PB scores today but we did get a visit from young Sawyer, which is better than getting a PB score any day. Now, Sawyer might only be 9 months old but already he has an eye on other people's set-up and planning for his first comp with Mum n Dad. Keep an eye on this young fella coming up through the ranks. Unfortunately, there's still no word to allow visitors to shoot. We're definitely keeping a finger in the pulse and as soon as we're allowed, we'll be letting you all come for a shoot. Until then though, keep practising, stay safe and enjoy your sport.

10.01.2022 Hmmmmm, well this sucks. Folks, our club is unable to return to shoots in the near future. A new directive from ABA outlines that all club activities and shoots will remain off limits until the new revised date 31 May 2020. This is of course a sensible thing to do for the safety of the larger community. Please remember to be safe in these trying times. Maintain your social distancing and elevated hygiene awareness, it's kept us in good stead to date so let's keep up the ...good work and get back to shooting as soon as possible. I don't know about you, but I'm gettin a bit twitchy being cooped up all weekend. Stay smart and stay safe people See more

06.01.2022 What a beautiful morning..... said no-one today. That was not a nice way to start our day. Sure enough the day would have been brilliant had that cold breeze blown elsewhere. Never the less, we set out at Whoop Whoop range this morning to try out our luck on some new targets. There are a couple of challenging shots down into a creek bed, across a bit of a rise and across a gully so we had to be on the ball to avoid those embarrassing 'C' scores. There's no news yet on when we can invite visitors back to the club but please keep an eye on our page for updates

04.01.2022 Another enjoyable day today at Gate Range. No new PB scores but still a lot of smiling faces. A shout out and thanks for all of those people making enquiries to come out for a shoot. Unfortunately, at this point, we would not be doing any of us any favours by operating outside of the overarching insurance requirements. Rest assured, as soon as we are able, we will open up to visitors and new shooters. Until then, keep practising, ready to put your self to the test on one of our ranges.

03.01.2022 A bit of an update from Full Draw Archery on their scheduled C Branch titles shoot planned for the first weekend of August. Regrettably, the comp has been cancelled due to the unpredictable circumstances surrounding Covid19. It really has been an unusual year so far, let's hope for some normality soon. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2825369684240830&id=933348090109675

03.01.2022 I'm starting to get sick of reporting no new PB scores after our shoot. What's going on guys? Some of us are equalling our PBs but nudging past it is becoming quite a feat. Practise, persist and pray to your god haha I think we need Liam back on board to show us oldies how to shoot high scores again. Another enjoyable shoot today with our lot. While Brenton is slugging it out at the Australian Bowhunters Association AGM, we were having laughs and enjoying the great outdoors.... Thanks for your ongoing support for our club Brenton, we're eagerly awaiting updates on how Field Archery is progressing through Covid and beyond. To all of those who have asked to come to the club, we really would love to have you come out to experience field archery. We're still unable to allow visitors or new members to the club as the overarching insurance will not cover the club if something were to go wrong. We will post on our facebook page as soon as this happens. We're keen to share our passion for the sport and pass on tips and tricks that will have you climbing the score board in next to no time. Here's a pic taken today where three of the old fellas got the ducks lined up and proved that they've still got it. Here also is a pic of what happens when one of the ducks steps out of line. Oops, after careful excavation and some intricate timber carvings, we managed to extract a misplaced arrow from a fallen branch in front of the target. Man oh man they sure pack some punch! See more
