23.01.2022 Highlights from our September Meeting & AGM. Thanks to Michelle Williamson who resigned from the committee after several years of extremely valuable contributions. Welcome to Kim Moss who joined the committee. Special thanks to @Phil Henry who has spent countless hours over the last 6 months in the wake of COVID-19, working with CCIQ to lobby government on your behalf. A big win was getting the State Gov to change their position on Payroll Tax after JobKeeper came out. An iss...ue that was originally identified by Michelle and then raised by Phil with CCIQ - so that's a real win from your local chamber. Looking forward to another 12 months to see what improvements we can bring to local business in Capricornia! Angela Olsen Geoff Lee Jason Foss

13.01.2022 The CCoC has noted the recent announcement of $25m for the redevelopment of Browne Park so it can accommodate greater numbers and also events other than rugby league. The Chamber also notes the competing proposal for a new field and stadium adjacent to the Rocky Sports Club. While there are advantages and disadvantages to both proposals, the recognition of the need for far better sporting and general entertainment facilities is very welcome. The Chamber notes that the Browne Park upgrade is in stages, so we would urge that this project, were it to continue, be fast-tracked. The competing proposal, as a greenfield development, obviously requires additional preparatory work. The Chamber looks forward to more detail and firm commitments on these projects.
11.01.2022 Please take a few minutes and fill this in over your next coffee.

09.01.2022 The Capricornia Chamber of Commerce is pleased to note that the Katter Party, contesting the upcoming State election, commit to funding a key piece of infrastructure for the region. The Rockhampton Airport has long offered the opportunity for extension of its capacity to handle passengers, freight and general aviation. Completion of the Rockhampton Ring Road will also contribute to the airport’s ability to ship greater amounts of agricultural produce suitable for airfreight, where time is of the essence. The Capricornia Chamber of Commerce is working with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland (CCIQ) to identify key infrastructure needs for the region, along with policy settings that will benefit small business.

03.01.2022 The Chamber notes the proposal for the shift of TAFE facilities to a Centre of Excellence on the CQUniversity Rockhampton campus. Given current and continuing high demand for trades and associated skills in the region, this project deserves immediate approval and funding. The Chamber has included this project on its list of regional infrastructure priorities and has supported it in private lobbying.
