17.01.2022 So, Oxford Academic (Oxford University Press) says that its Fowler's Dictionary of Modern English Usage (4th edition) was revised and updated 'based on the evidence and research of the Oxford Dictionaries Programme'. But ... if you search for "Oxford Dictionaries Programme", Google returns only 1,770 results and they are ALL results for the description of Fowler's that mentions that 'Programme'. We can't seem to find a single mention of the actual program on the internet. ... Did it used to have another name? Did they print the name of the program incorrectly in the Fowler's description? Are they making it up and did they in fact have no dataset to base their choices on at all?? Tell us what you think is going on!
