21.01.2022 What sheen level should I choose? A lot of customers come to me and ask ‘what type of sheen level do you think I should put on my floor?’ And more often than not I’ll suggest a matte polyurethane as when it comes to maintenance there’s nothing better than matte. You can scratch the floor and it doesn’t show up anywhere near as obvious as on a traditional gloss floor. Sweeping everyday? Forget about it! Due to the non reflective surface dog hair, cat hair even human hair is n...owhere as obvious so you can leave it a couple days between sweeps!! Are you sick of sweeping everyday? 13.01.2022 Look at the colours in this floor! Originally coated in paint, glue and still a bit of underlay that was glued down we had our work cut out for us. With this floor firstly we sanded it with some kero and 24 grit to remove the glue and paint then we crossed cut the floor to level the bowing boards. After that it was business as usual with a flat and clean floor to work our magic on with the exception of a kingfisher which came in for a drink of water. There’s a lot of colour ...in this floor not only because of the different coloured boards but also staining from old walls that were knocked down during its renovations and even a bit of water staining but this gave the floor rustic characteristics and really made it a one in a million floor. We coated this floor with one coat of Bona classic sealer and two coats of Bona matte waterbased polyurethane and doesn’t it look good. 13.01.2022 A SAND AND COAT IS AS GOOD AS A HOLIDAY!! Originally coated in solvent based polyurethane these boards were appearing dated and worn. After a sand and a few coats of Bona matte waterbased polyurethane they were ready for the customer to move back onto. One of the many benefits of waterbased polyurethane is it won’t amber off into a uniform orange colour. These boards will retain their natural colour variation for years to come. 07.01.2022 $30 a sqm!!!! $30 a sqm!!!! Isn't it amazing the difference between a waterbased coating and a solvent based coating. When this floor was originally coated the polyurethane would have been clear but over a year it ambers off to the traditional orange colour you see on the left.... This months special is $30 a sqm for Bona matte water based polyurethane which is what I've used in the after photo. I also sand decks. Check out this deck it was covered in shade most of the day because of this rain sat on the deck and the deck was damp and mould grew on it for easier maintenance the home owner has decided to paint it in anti slip paint.
