25.01.2022 Happy Friday! I only know this because my partner is still working... I on the other hand have had all shoots cancelled. So I thought I’d take the time to tell you a bit about me... I have always been an emotionally intelligent person and having worked in Expos & Events made being an Event photographer a no brainer for me as I knew the images the marketing teams needed.... I feel so much empathy for the Events Industry at the moment, especially my long time clients. I wish you so well. What we’re going through collectively is enormous, losing your livelihood and identity through it - even more so. 2021 is already becoming a packed out affair with many venues booked out for most dates! You’re going to find two years packed into one. If you haven’t done this yet for your event I would honestly suggest you do so. Food for thought. After week three of being at home, I’m just so grateful to product clients. To the rest of you though - don’t discount getting your social images ready in this time. Why? Well... a photographer has to stand at least 2m away, especially if they use a zoom lens. More food for thought. I love what I do. And right now, I really miss it. Have a super weekend. 23.01.2022 An update for all of those who have been asking about having a photo shoot during this time: Thank you for your inquiry. I acknowledge the reasons that prompted you to write and recognise the uncertainty and distress this is placing on the community and businesses. "Thank you for your enquiry seeking clarification on whether you are still able to operate as a photographer under the Public Health (COVID-19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order 2020.... The current Order (noting things could change in the future) outlines the following points: Unless services have been explicitly told to be shut, they can continue to operate, provided they abide by restrictions in the public health orders, which include where relevant: Minimum space requirements (e.g. 4 metre square per person) Maximum persons for indoor/outdoor premises Permitted reasonable excuses as outlined in Schedule 1 Permitted essential gatherings as outlined in Schedule 2 Under Schedule 1, attending work or education where it cannot be done at your place or residence is permitted under the Order as a reasonable excuse for leaving your residence. You would not be in breach of the Order for conducting your photography services. However, as discussed your clients would have to have a reasonable excuse for having photos done if this was for work-related purposes, this is allowable under the Order. Gatherings of more than two people are not permitted in public places therefore you should refrain from photo shoots in public places such as a beach with any more than one client, and even then there is a possibility the Police may intervene, especially if your client does not have a reasonable excuse to have photos taken. The Order does not prohibit you attending a workplace e.g. a business or office to undertake your services, but NSW Health would recommend you take a risk assessment approach and assess the situation for example, your ability to maintain social distancing and the potential for becoming exposed if you came into contact with someone who was infectious. NSW Health recommends all services that continue to operate implement measures to support social distancing and infection control procedures. It would also be prudent for you to screen clients prior to attending appointments for any symptoms (cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, fever or runny nose) or whether they have been in contact with anyone known to have COVID-19, and to have freely available hand sanitiser or hand washing facilities if they attend your studio."

The health of our relationships, the health of our homes, of our kids, ourselves (!), our mental health, our nutritional health, our spiritual health ... ... En masse, we are moving our of cities and into the country as we realise we CAN work from home. 23.01.2022 This incredible human has an big deep WHY for what she does. Renovating for low-tox living due to her ill health and her son’s chronic gut issues, she then went on to become an Integrative Health Practitioner and a huge advocate for low-tox living. I asked her about her passion for her why and she shared this...... When we bought the house, I knew that I wanted to make the renovation as low-tox as possible. After a few years of ill health myself and my son just recovering from a chronic gut infection I could not bear the thought of any unnecessary toxins or chemicals being used in the Reno. There is nothing more powerful or motivated than a mama bear protecting her family! This lead to many, many hours of research into materials and finding the right tradespeople to work with. The air in our homes are 2-5 times more polluted than outside! This is due to paints/furniture/carpets/mould spores... the list goes on. Until we start digging a bit deeper we have no idea on how toxic most building materials and furnishing products are. I’m now a qualified integrative health practitioner (specialising in gut health and hormones) and writing an e-book on healthy home renovation. My mission is to educate and help all families trying to create a safe, low-tox space for their families. 23.01.2022 I'm a member of a brilliant group on Facebook called Like Minded Bitches Drinking Wine. A recent post asked this "Hi ladies, a friends Instagram account has been deactivated due to violations to copyright all pics were credited or credited with unknown pls tag. Does anyone have any recommendations of what to write in the appeal?"... Some of the fab women in the group have suggested she show that she gained the permission from the copyright owner before posting the images. Which shouldn't take too long but can be a process. Who has time to add more processes?! Get a professional photographer to create original content for you, don't go using images everyone else has. End of Story

17.01.2022 I had such a great session last week with a new client, and she said something to me I wanted to share - as I’d never thought about it before. She asked how I can easily be across so many different industries? And it hit me - ... I was one of those kids who didn’t attend university. In all honesty my parents couldn’t afford it and as I wasn’t certain on what I wanted to do I didn’t want to waste their money just doing a degree that I’d never use and instead use the time being sociable and partying. So, I decided to get life experience. Hands on, straight into it, learning from those on the ground life experience. I’ve worked across 12 different industries. Some for a year, others for five years and some for just six months. Taking from each my interpretation, lessons and perceptions. Within those industries I’ve played many different roles and seen the businesses from differing angles. So my reply to her was simply this. Growing up, I followed my nose and followed my heart slowly feeling out the future I wanted. I yearned to be one of those people who just knew what they wanted to be and now, I’m beyond thankful I wasn’t. The journey to here was so rich in colour, in lessons, in variety and I can happily give all my clients the attention they need because for the most part, I’ve witnessed their industry from at least one or two angles. Maybe that you’re the creator of your life, that your the artist, the movie director, the ONLY one who can shift you. It’s true you are. Working on your beliefs is about seeing those parts that limit you. ... One of mine, being seen. Crazy huh - given that’s what I do so well to help each one of you to do!! And it’s a huge reason I’m behind the camera. I know how to bring out the laughter in you, your authenticity - it’s just what I do. And now, after working on those shadow parts of myself, I'm not worrying about what other people think. I heard from an amazing coach last night @mills_gray ... and a belief buster she shared was this: If you were the CEO of your life, what would your life look like? What do you do? Where do you live? What does your day look like? How many hours do you work? And what’s stopping you from being the CEO of your life? - with this one question you'll immediately hear/see/feel the reasons why. Trust me, try it. She also talked about Football - yep, football. And the difference between the Supporters and the Players. Who gets paid, who shows up every day for training, who gets involved - are you a Player or a Supporter in your business, and your life? Mindset, self belief, and belief in what you do is paramount to becoming who you want to be. 07.01.2022 My Why and where it stemmed from... I started my business many years ago under a different name; Blencke+Barget, to help my then partner. He was so good at shooting but had no idea how to begin a business... so the fierce girl in me Stuck her hand high in the air, rolled her sleeves up and began! We shot weddings, parties, families and products (we got commissioned to shoot the products for BBC WorldWide for Dr Who’s 50th Anniversary!) Loved that! ... Then we broke up. All good, still friends. But in that time I let photography go for a while... not for too long though I still had so much passion for it, and so I set up Captar Photo. Captar means capture in Spanish and my focus was to Capture Life. Life, a love of mine. Living life to the full, capturing memories as imprints of magic. I love creative expression and watching emotion... so knowing I could capture that for people I figured was such a gift. Captar branched out into shooting food, interiors and events. The first TEDx I shot, I was in awe. Even more so of myself when I was invited back year after year. To be a part of such an incredible team left me feeling so proud. The business built itself from there. I’ve advertised once - for weddings. Yet all my business came through referral - how amazing is that. What’s your business? 01.01.2022 Firstly, happy Sunday. You've earned it. Today is (hopefully...) your day off. It's mine. In fact it's now a hard rule in my life as I used to get talked into working on Sundays ... but noooo. No more. Beautiful boundaries. Sunday is my day, my day with my family, myself, my partner, my dog - nature, the beach or - simply the couch. Saying all that, I'm always thinking about my business (I have a couple). I find when we give ourselves permission to let go, ...take time, breathe and reconnect to ourselves we actually come up with more ideas and brilliance for action. So today, I ask you - when did you last refresh your imagery for your website or social media? This year is ticking on by.. I only have so many available appointments and as we know - I dont work sundays.
