10.01.2022 In celebration of World Gorilla Day (24th September) here are father and son at Taronga Zoo Sydney. The Gorilla is a gentle, social animal that lives in close f...amily groups of five to 10 animals. The group is led by a dominant male called a Silverback. Soft chest beating is commonly used for family communication in the dense forest. More threatening chest beating and roaring is used by the Silverback to protect the group and his position. Young gorillas are often seen practising this behaviour. Gorillas are on the endangered list. See more

A Group of Wombats is Known As a Wisdom. ... The Heaviest Wombat Was 38kg. ... They Can Run As Fast As A Human. ... Their Teeth Don't Stop Growing. ... Their Guts Can Hold Food For 70 Hours. ... They Are The Second Largest of All Marsupials. Wombats poop square pellets! Native only to Australia They are tough little buggers, they kill their predators by crushing their heads or suffocating their victim with their strong butts!! However how cute are they! Here's Winnie now sadly in Wombat Heaven (Late of National Zoo & Aquarium.) If you were early enough she would give you a run for your money as she'd hit the trail around her enclosure at lightning speed and make us all dizzy just watching her. Winnie was reportedly the oldest wombat in the world leaving us at 32 years of age! She would tuck herself up in bed often throwing a doona over her entire body to steel herself against the Canberra cold! See more

04.01.2022 A colourful spring in my step

04.01.2022 Very early morning walk with Photographic Friends of ANBG - avoided all snakes (phew!) however got attacked by a Wattle Bird, of all things! Then Magpie just ab...out went through my legs to attack a couple of choughs who were breakfasting on more than a wormy looking thing on path in front of me. Goshawk looked so threatening I said 'Gosh' or 'words to that effect' and hastily retreated! The plants were not in attack mode and i enjoyed discovering new growth and colour of our beautiful and ever-changing Botanic Gardens. See more
