25.01.2022 "Fire, Air, Earth and Water" Was so happy when my new filter kit showed up on Friday and I was able to get out over the weekend to test it out. Must say that I'm very happy with the results I achieved! Hope you all enjoy this one from the beautiful sunset we had on Saturday evening!... ~Kirsty Destination Riverland Riverland Unearthed Settings and equipment: Canon 70D Canon 10-22mm @ 10mm f/8, 30 seconds, ISO-100 NiSi V5 Filter Holder System NiSi Filters GND Reverse 0.9 NiSi Filters Australia ND64 (6 Stops)

25.01.2022 "Flow" So I finally went for one of my very first sunrise shoots! I'm really not an early riser, I'm more of a night owl. But I made an exception in this case! Daniel Brauer Photography was in town from Queensland and we'd decided to meet up on Saturday morning at Petrel Cove with Sólstafir Photography. Friday night I drove the 3.5 hours down to Victor Harbour and spent the night sleeping in my car! But I must say that it was worth it, was great to meet you Daniel, hopefully ...we can arrange another shoot the next time you're in town! ~Kirsty

24.01.2022 "Softly Falls" Tucked in the very end corner of the Barmera Jetty, I captured this image over 40 minutes after the sun had already set. It was a warm, calm but stormy night and I sat for a while just watching the colour slowly fade away. Maybe I also sat for a bit hoping to see some lightning but no luck! I don't think I'll ever get sick of watching the sun set over Lake Bonney! Facebook compression is a bit horrid on this one.. ... ~Kirsty #myriverland

23.01.2022 One of the amazing places that I got to visit over in New Zealand while on honeymoon.. The Church of the Good Shepherd on Lake Tekapo! I can't wait to get back here again.. This place is on my list to photograph during sunrise, sunset as well as astro! On ANY day this place is packed with tourists, I know it doesn't look like it from this image but there were a lot of people around and it took a lot of patience to get this shot. Hope you all continue to stay safe and hopefully we'll be back travelling again soon :) ~ Kirsty

22.01.2022 Come down and visit at the Barmera Twilight Easter Markets!!

22.01.2022 "A Peace of Me" This place (Lake Bonney) certainly does hold a piece of me! And right now throughout the Riverland region the water levels are quite high! Completely exciting for those who enjoy their yabbies and higher water also means new places to explore for those who enjoy their kayaking. Just please make sure you stay safe, high water levels also mean a change in what could be hiding under the surface! For those interested in how I took this shot, I will include an imag...e in the comments of my set up. Calendars are very very close to being completed too! 20.01.2022 "Specular Reflection" This image is from an evening a couple weeks ago! Conditions were just perfect. The lake is just amazing when it is as flat and reflective as a mirror, a real treat to see. Apologies for the lack of uploads the last 2 weeks, I have been away for work! 20.01.2022 Received this in the mail today! I won a Guru's Pick on GuruShots and the prize happened to be the Miggo Aqua Quick-draw Stormproof Holster! Got to test it out this afternoon. Will be great to use for just small daytrips where I know I only need the camera and one lens.

20.01.2022 "Destination" Should I call it? This early in the year? Is this possibly my best image of 2017?? It's certainly up there as one of my favourites, top 3! Can I top it? I decided to take a step away from my beloved lake and it will be my challenge this year to minimise my visits to the lake and explore more of this fantastic region that we live in!... This image was taken along a long stretch of road in the Loch Luna National Park along the way to the Sugarloaf Hill Campground. If you visit around this place you are bound to see kangaroos in plenty! They visit these plains during any time of the day but to really see them in their numbers make sure you take a hike up to the top of Sugarloaf Hill (it's not even really a hike). Last time I was up there I saw a mob of at least 30-40 of them and that's small for the area! 19.01.2022 "Ancient Glow" I apologise for my lack of images lately, hope this one makes up for it. Lake Bonney aglow in all it's glory! Taken just before the sun disappeared over the horizon, it's light nicely highlighting the ancient wood of the old gum tree. For those interested, I used an ND1000 filter to get a 30 second exposure. Other settings used - ISO100 and f/8.... ~Kirsty www.capturedbykirstylee.com

19.01.2022 "Ghosts of Gums" One stormy afternoon, taken as the sun peeked through a dark cloud and perfectly lit the foreground. A long exposure was done for this one, using an ND filter. Set up quite low, the camera was only sitting around 10cm above the line of the water! Good thing it was a calm day. For those interested in equipment - I use a Canon 70D and Canon 10-22mm lens, Sirui tripod and an ND1000 circular filter.... Settings - ISO100, F18 and 20 seconds. 19.01.2022 "Squid's Jetty" Over the Australia Day long weekend myself and the family stayed at Swansea on Lake Macquarie. On Sunday night I found myself watching the clouds and hoping that maybe there would be something decent to go out for with the sunset. When I headed down to Squid's Ink Jetty I could see the storm rolling in from a distance but knew it wasn't going to quite make it to me in time for the sunset. The colours for sunset were just spot on though! However, I did get eate...n alive by so many mosquitoes! PS. I did stay out later into the evening when the storm did get closer, stay tuned for the lightning image. But you can see the slightest hint of a bolt in the distance in this one! PPS. This shot has been 4 years in the making! A bit over 4 years ago I came through this lovely part of the world as I was driving a truck from the Gold Coast to Melbourne and just knew that eventually I had to come back to visit this little jetty! 19.01.2022 "Midnight Blue" This was my very first experiment with using my new NiSi filter kit! Taken as the sun rose on an early Saturday morning. It was my first day off after working some long hours throughout the week and most thought I was crazy for not just getting a sleep in. But there's no way I was going to miss out on using my new filters the first opportunity that I got! 18.01.2022 I've been out travelling around Australia the last week! Stopped in Port Macquarie for tonight and finally able to get out for some shooting!

18.01.2022 I don't usually do photo's of people but when my beautiful friend asked me to take some maternity photo's for her, how could I refuse? Taken just in time too, her gorgeous little boy was born a week later :) ~Kirsty

18.01.2022 Bit of an amusing story behind this image, those who know me personally know that the fear of large and hairy spiders is great in me. While out "chasing" (really I was stationary) this was put to the test! I wasn't able to use my torch as the bugs were everywhere and would swarm to me whenever it was turned on, so for the most part I operated in the dark. At one particular moment, I felt a bit of grass tickling my foot and so I moved my foot away but the tickling still persis...ted, I quickly flicked my torch on to find a great big hairy wolf spider! All hell broke loose at this point, really I'm lucky that my camera is still all in one piece! Anyway, hope you all enjoy this one! ~Kirsty

18.01.2022 "Simplicity" Not all sunsets require clouds to look beautiful. This particular spot is pretty special to me, it's a location that I spend a lot of time at with my family. 18.01.2022 "Aequinoctium" So, it's almost Spring! There are so many blossoms everywhere and the warm weather is slowly getting here. If you can't tell, I'm rather excited by this! I can't wait to for it to be warmer, I have so many ideas that actually involve being in the water. Until then, here's one I managed to snag over the weekend :) Enjoy! 17.01.2022 "Felix Culpa" Sorry for the lack of images showing up on your wall from me! I'm not the hugest fan of the cold and so the winter has kept me lazy and inside, in the warmth! 17.01.2022 "A Steady Radiance" Spring is 2 days away!! Slowly it's starting to get warmer and warmer here in the beautiful Riverland. Still, it wasn't warm enough to actually get into the water. My subconscious seemed to have a different idea, though. After this shoot, I decided to hang around for a little bit longer to watch the stars peek through. Once it started to get a bit darker, I had a moth get a bit too friendly with my face and so I took off my hat to swat it away. I kind of ...forgot about the sunnies that I had previously perched there and away they flew with a plop into the water.. 15.01.2022 "Softly Goes The Storm" My first shoot in the new year! I'm pretty happy that this is the first image that I'm showing you in 2016, I hope you all agree! For this image I was set up knee deep in the lake and used an ND1000 filter to gain that longer exposure. This one was a storm that passed by and I hung around for the sunset after. In the meantime, I'm heading out to try and catch another of these elusive storms!... ~Kirsty

13.01.2022 "Luna Arbor" I have had my eye on this tree for quite a while now but have never known exactly what composition I have wanted to use it in. The other night I parked near it while racing down to the lake and on my way back to the car, with the moon rising behind it, this image just popped out to me! 10.01.2022 Throwback Thursday! This image was first shared 5 years ago today and by far has been my most popular image! Some people say how much they love it, others say that it's fake. I've never felt the need to prove to anyone that it is 100% real, I know it is and that's all that matters! I feel incredibly lucky that I got to witness this live, let alone being lucky enough to have captured it as well! I've also always been open to people asking me questions on the technical side of ...how I went about setting my camera up and how I captured certain images, so if you do have questions, feel free to ask away! ~Kirsty #tbt

10.01.2022 I had the absolute best of intentions in getting out for photography more regularly this year, unfortunately in the first half of the year I've kind of failed in that regard. I want to be completely open and honest with my story, at the end of January I lost my Granny rather suddenly. This image is one that I took a day after I arrive back home for her funeral, the family went down to Lake Bonney and we went fishing. Luckily I had my camera with me because I think she was wel...coming me home with this one! In the months that followed, I went back into routine life, it wasn't until only very recently I realised that I was not dealing with her death very well. I hadn't actually dealt with it at all! I'm getting married in under 3 months now and I was having to come to terms with the fact that she's not going to be there for that, I also realised that I hadn't touched any of the photo's I took while I was back home. She would be so devastated to know that I'd taken a step back from photography after her passing but I certainly hope that she's loving this image now too. So if you're having a hard time please know that you're not alone! I'm now doing a lot better but I wanted to address this along with my image, as I want to raise awareness, it happens and it does not mean that you're weak! Reach out to those you love, I promise, you are not a burden! ~Kirsty

08.01.2022 "The Window" A soft sunset along the banks of Lake Bonney in Barmera, SA. The exposed roots of the old gumtree's and choppy water made smooth with long exposure, this is a composition that I have been after for a while. 03.01.2022 "Ambient" Happy New Year to you all, I hope that 2017 brings you love and happiness! At the moment, Lake Bonney is flooded - a bit like the rest of the Mighty Murray! Usually the banks of the lake are right on the base of this tree, it's a favourite spot of mine that I like to visit with the family to swim and fish.... Hope you all enjoy my first photo of 2017! ~Kirsty

02.01.2022 "Burst" Everywhere around the Riverland has been flooded the last few weeks! Flood waters are now receding and things are starting to go back to normal! This image was taken on floodplains just off the Kingston-on-Murray causeway, usually the land here is completely dry but the extra water has brought out an abundance of wildlife, unfortunately for me it also means extra midgey's and mozzies and flies! Gone for a new angle with this image, gone are the dead trees and instead ...in their place are dried lignum plants! Hope you all enjoy. ~Kirsty

01.01.2022 "Fallen" This image was taken the same night as my previous. However, it was around 45 minutes earlier! I happened to stumble across this location while sprinting across the soft sand, I think it's one that I may just revisit! I love that Lake Bonney has never ending compositions available! Hoping you all have an enjoyable weekend!... ~Kirsty #myriverland
