25.01.2022 Our Stronger Together exhibition for Welcoming Australia launches in exactly 2 weeks time on the 25th September! Come to Sparkke at the Whitmore to witness a series of stories of young leaders from diverse backgrounds who are part of the Welcoming Futures Program, a project which brings young people from diverse communities together in light of developing cohesion, understanding and knowledge. Come from the 25th September to learn about stories such as Sophia's. . . . 'As an... individual, I see myself as a citizen of the world because although I introduce myself as Congolese, I have little knowledge of how the place looks or feels. I was born in Congo, but raised elsewhere. The place I once called home (the Camp) does not exist anymore and all my precious childhood memories of the place are with me, but I cannot visit the place even if I wanted to. And of course, I have spent most of my life here in South Australia but I still miss home. Therefore, I cannot exclude either one of the places I have lived because that would mean erasing the memories I have of the place; which is impossible. Living in Australia means a lot to me. I am extremely grateful for what this beautiful country has done for me. Not only has it provided a home for me, this country with all the opportunities that came with it has enabled me a chance to grow into an independent woman. It is just sad how it came to be that I live in this place that I now love, because I was displaced from my birth country without consent. '

24.01.2022 [Shaun's.Authentic.Truth Day] a.k.a S.A.T'day post . Well, what a freakin week it's been. I'm catching myself after a crazy week of cancellations and incredible uncertainty for so many businesses, friends, families and people I know. The key truth i'm getting today is; for all those in the industry, all those looking to get married, all those looking hold events etc etc - take a moment and breathe before you act. It's important that the decisions we make from here onwards c...ome from a space of clarity rather than fear and panic. I personally understand the financial strain and the societal pressures involved. But when financial advisors and business advisors and not just health professionals are recommending prioritising physical health and isolation first over anything else - then I think that says something about our current predicament. As someone who is relatively young and healthy I realise the sacrifices we are being told to make right now is not just about protecting myself - it's more so about protecting those around me- both family, friends and strangers who are highly vulnerable and preventing overwhelming the health system. So stay true to your heart, keep connecting (from a distance) and stay safe. Much love #adelaidephotographer #truthspeaks #selfportrait

24.01.2022 What is your brand identity? And is it easily recognisable amongst all the noise out there? Effective imagery can create a very unique yet defined look for brands and businesses. The trick is having a definitive style, yet maintaining some variation so there's consistency but also enough variety to mix it up. There are many techniques we can use for creating a brand look. We can maintain the same mood, utilise a consistent colour palette, or stick to similar compositions. E...ssentially it's all in the details. So next time you decide to share imagery that represents your brand, ask yourself is it consistent with the suite of other images you use? Or does it look and feel completely different to your other content? To paraphrase from Storybrand my favourite branding guide - when it comes to branding, if you confuse you lose! Images from a fun little outing in the streets of Adelaide, and within my home studio setup : )

23.01.2022 [CONNECTION] Wondering whether to have the wedding prep covered? In regards to the way I shoot and some other photographers - the wedding prep images tend to have a different tone and I'd say in general are much more laid back and relaxed. In a lot of weddings the parents, siblings, nieces and nephews are at the venue - this creates a dynamic family warmth to most of the prep photos. And obviously because the bride and groom aren't getting prepared together, the images centre around family love rather than the romantic love between the bride and groom. If that's your jam, then yeah you'd definitely want to have some prep photos at your wedding : ) #adelaideweddingphotographer #adelaideweddings

23.01.2022 THE GREATEST TIP FOR POSING FOR PHOTOS - show a little kindness and love to yourself. It's time to address the topic of self judgement when it comes to photos. Often when I meet clients, I'll frequently hear the joke 'I hope you're good at photoshop cos I'm not very photogenic!' - or something along the lines of that. I've heard this comment enough times and observed where it's coming from to notice there's a level of truth (in their mind) from the person making the comme...nt. I believe in our society we've been confused between the concepts of being 'photogenic' and looking like a fashion model. Photogenic as defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary describes it as ''suitable for being photographed because of visual appeal'. I truly believe everyone is photogenic. You can all shine and look magnificent. There is nothing more photogenic then a person who freely expresses who they are in front of the camera. A baby can be photogenic, a 90 year old can be photogenic. Photogenic DOES NOT mean you should look like a Victoria's Secret or GQ model. In summary - photographer's want to capture who you truly are - because no matter the shape of your face or body, if we can capture your true spirit - it'll be a beautiful picture regardless of the aesthetics. The light of the soul will always outshine the physical aesthetics. Love - Shaun (a.ka. Capture the Present) See more

23.01.2022 And introducing our next subject for the STRONGER TOGETHER exhibition with Welcoming Australia. This is Rumbie and a snippet of her story - you can see Rumbies portrait and hear an audio recording of her full story Sparkke at the Whitmore between Sept 25-Oct 25 (head upstairs for the exhibition!) . . . Three countries, two continents, one girl. I have always wanted to be a global citizen. Outlier? Adventurer? Simply put, a bad economic situation has forced most of my count...rymen to move to other countries and my family is no exception. However, in the journey far away from home I have always yearned to belong. I came to the realisation that I could, by creating the sense of belonging for others. Born and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe, when I was 13, my family moved to South Africa for better work opportunities. I had to stay back home in Zimbabwe with my grandmother to finish my high school studies. I later joined them.... When I was in South Africa...not only did I feel like a foreigner, I found it hard to define where home was. One of my siblings thought I was a visitor in my own mothers house I am a Zimbabwean. I live in Australia. I am a significant part of a whole thing whatever thing that I make it to be. I am the integral part to the story of me. And the story of me includes all those that understand wanting to belong and creating an environment where others feel they belong. Being in Australia, getting involved in the Welcoming Futures created those opportunities and nurtured that sense for me.

22.01.2022 [TRUTH + CONNECTION + FREEDOM] And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced, Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently. And the people healed. And in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless and heartless ways, the earth began to heal. ... And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed. - Kitty OMeara This poem was shared to me and it echoes the mindset I have of the current situation. What if this was the universes way of reminding us to focus in on the things that are truly most important in our lives? Elements such as love, connection, family. Agree or Disagree? Just a question for us to ponder during this Sunday. Stay safe FYI go google Kitty OMeara and poem to learn more about the amazing poem she has written during this time. #homeportrait #capturethepresent #adelaidephotographer

22.01.2022 Our next subject for the STRONGER TOGETHER exhibition with Welcoming Australia. This is Victoria and a snippet of her story - you can see Victoria's portrait and hear an audio recording of her story at Sparkke at the Whitmore between Sept 25-Oct 25 (head upstairs for the exhibition!) . . . By the time I was a teenager, I knew that not everywhere was like Australia that not everyone was like me. Of course, it was rare to find someone with the exact same ethnicity, but I b...egan to look for the similarities in differences with others. My friends were from a range of backgrounds, many of whom shared similar experiences traveling to their parents home countries or cultural norms I feel very fortunate that Adelaide is such an inclusive community, otherwise I would not be able to build strong ties with my cultural heritage. I hope to inspire others to get involved in community activities and to break out of the norm

22.01.2022 [TRUTH + CONNECTION + FREEDOM] . In the last 24 hours, I've just had 4 photoshoots cancelled. I've been aware of the situation globally, but today is the first day I've felt the direct impacts of it all. It's quite concerning and today stressful. I've even contemplated whether I can make it work, or if I should just throw in the towel and go back to my old job . . What I realise is despite everything going on, the values and message that Capture the Present holds true right... now more than in any other time. In challenging periods, I believe those who live the highest versions of themselves stick to what they absolutely believe in. . So my message for today, amidst the chaos. I know it's easy to be overwhelmed by the chaos and join in the hysteria. But take a breath, and think about the truth of who you are and who you desire to be. Love those around you and care for them, whether that's your family, your friends or those who are vulnerable. Place emphasis on the basic things in life, connect deeply with your loved ones, embrace and be present with them and focus on the things that truly matter. . Once we all get past this testing period, I believe our freedoms will return. In the meantime, stay educated and stay safe. Much love #photographywithamessage #capturethepresent #adelaideweddings

21.01.2022 Introducing our next subject for the STRONGER TOGETHER exhibition with Welcoming Australia. This is Eve and a snippet of her story. Put your reading glasses on for this one, cos Eve has a heck of a story and there's some very insightful detail for you to sink your teeth into. You can see Eve's portrait and hear an audio recording of her story at Sparkke at the Whitmore between Sept 25-Oct 25 (head upstairs for the exhibition!) . . . ‘My first few years of my childhood were c...haracterised by displacement between Congo and Tanzania, due to the war that was happening in the eastern part of the Country. The war affected the area that my people resides and caused communities and families to separate. I would say that Congo has never been the same since the Rwanda Genocide. My family spent years running between Tanzania and Congo, but after a few years, my parents decided that they wanted a better life for their children. We moved from Congo and eventually found our way into a refugee camp called Tongogara in Zimbabwe. My childhood was very different from the average Australian child, however, I had so much fun as a child in Zimbabwe. I spent majority of my time between school and playing with other kids. We didn’t have access to electronics, so being creative in terms of games was very important. After almost four years in the camp, we were accepted by the Australian Government under the UNHCR Visa and in 2009 we came to Australia. I remember crying as I got on the bus to leave the refugee camp and go to Harare for our flight. Because I had moved a lot as a child, I knew that I was going to lose contact with my friends and start from scratch again. I also somehow knew that this time around, the move was going to be totally different and while I was very excited about the stories I had heard about Australia, I was also very terrified of the unknown Africa is very multicultural as we have different tribes, languages, food and traditions that exists within countries and Africa at large. However, I was very amazed at the different cultures I was introduced to when I first came to Australia. I learnt that there were other people who might look different from me but are similar in terms of cultures and shared life experiences. I began to appreciate multiculturalism and I was very excited to learn about other people’s ways of life and relate it to mine I am a proud Congolese Australian woman. Although Australia has given me wealth of opportunities and I consider myself fortunate to now call Australia home; I know deep down that despite the opportunity to call Congo my home being taken from me, It will always remain my HOME and home is where the HEART lies.’

20.01.2022 [TRUTH + CONNECTION] As photographers - the aim of game is to tell a story in the picture we capture. Sometimes I have to guide my couples and chat to them to make them comfortable, which allows them to showcase the story of who they are together. But in some instances,I literally have to do nothing but point the camera and shoot. I remember in this moment the light was amazing and I never really said much to Ness and Ry. They simply were in the moment and were willing to lo...se themselves in each other and all I had to do was press the shutter. As a photographer sometimes I have to move the wand a bit, but sometimes the magic simply happens. . 20.01.2022 A conceptual shoot for an imaginary campaign... . I really wanted to craft a narrative through images about the restorative power of nature. It's been such a chaotic, challenging year for the world. And for me personally, since moving into photography full time Sept 2019, the challenges I've faced in 2020 as a business owner (and human being) has often felt monumental. . But what has helped me throughout without fail, has been reconnecting deeply with nature. This sequen...ce of images is about an individual who has taken the time to venture out in natural surroundings, to reflect, remove all the noise from their world in order to gain some clarity on life. It's about how a simple act of immersing yourself outdoors can have such a potent effect on restoring your mental, spiritual at times even physical health. And when we actually take the time to slow down, to provide our bodies and spirit with what we truly need - we bring stillness, peace, even joy and strength back into our worlds. #adelaidephotography #adelaidephotographer #commercialphotography #mclarenvale

19.01.2022 [FREEDOM] The night before Liv and Bradens wedding, the amazing couple kindly invited me and my second shooter @momentsbyirtaza to the pre-wedding dinner. After a hearty meal, Liv also showed us the house where she was going to get prepped. I was SO lucky to have my camera handy. After a bit of chill time, the bridal group threw on some tunes and then things kicked off. But the energy levels really hit the roof when From Now On from the Greatest Showman came on, and I was ...so stoked to be able to capture the sheer joy and freedom of the group dancing along to the song - looking at this sequence of photos just gives me a massive smile. and I hope it does the same for Liv and Braden too. FYI Id never been inspired to watch the Greatest Showman until I took these photos - in fact I just watched it the other night - totally dug it too . #adelaideweddingphotographer #adelaidephotographer See more

16.01.2022 Come to Sparkke at the Whitmore to view Stronger Together - a photography exhibition with audio recordings for @Welcoming Australia. 15.01.2022 [TRUTH + CONNECTION + FREEDOM] . In the last 24 hours, Ive just had 4 photoshoots cancelled. 15.01.2022 [CONNECTION] Want to showcase your connection in more than one image but at the same time only in one image? Yeah you ain't crazy i get what you're saying. Why not use a diptych? Or even three which is a triptych? It's a brilliant way to tell a story of two subjects. You can combine these into one photo, or alternatively - get a frame and align two or three in a sequence to create a wall mount. If you want to find out more and have a chat about diptych and triptychs feel free to drop me a DM to enquire about a portrait session any time . #adelaidephotographer #adelaideportrait

15.01.2022 The forehead to forehead and nose to nose touch is a greeting that's prevalent in many cultures and there seems to be a few explanations of what the action represents. The explanation I absolutely love is that it's a symbolic exchange of both the breath and thoughts. Now that's a DEEP CONNECTION #adelaidephotographer #adelaidewedding #connection ... #adelaide

13.01.2022 Our next subject for the STRONGER TOGETHER exhibition with Welcoming Australia. This is Kevin and a snippet of his story - you can see Kevin's portrait and hear an audio recording of her his story Sparkke at the Whitmore between Sept 25-Oct 25 (head upstairs for the exhibition!) . . . I quickly noticed I needed people to reach out to and I have found it beneficial to be part of communities and build networks. The Welcoming Futures leadership program has been immense help in... continually building my confidence and helping me be part of something important to the community. . It has been a very non-linear journey for me since coming to Australia, from the four years it was meant to take me, my degree changes, dealing with personal issues that arose, raising university fees, updating immigration status constantly, resenting being at university, moving interstate with the hope of going back, but settling in Adelaide. That is a long way from the words my mum said before I left: "Just those four years for your degree and then come back,OK? love you son." " #welcomingaustralia #photographyexhibition #strongertogether

13.01.2022 [TRUTH + CONNECTION + FREEDOM] A new decade brings in a new approach and slightly new look for Capture the Present . If you look through my socials you'll notice that I haven't been active on social media for awhile now. The thing that had hit me was that I realised I wasn't quite clear what I wanted to say with my photography. I was sharing my images - but when it came to themes, captions I honestly had no idea. To a degree I had stumbled across an identity crisis with Ca...pture the Present. . So I took a bit of a 'sabbatical' to uncover what it was I really wanted to say with my work. With some help from mentors, friends and the guidance of some great books, I uncovered the message and the stories that I had always wanted to share. What became clear and apparent was that the things I wanted to talk about with my photography were the same as the themes in my life that I valued the most. And it hit - Capture the Present is WHO I AM. It is 100% me. The way I work, the way I am with my couples and clients, what I shoot, the mood and tone I capture - my photography is essentially a channel and an outlet that helps me express how I see and feel about the world. It's not just a job, it's actually a life choice and a profound way of how I choose to experience this life. It's why I get so emotional and raw around my work. . So for me and Capture the Present, it's centred around 3 key themes - truth, connection and freedom of expression. It's about uncovering the beauty that's within the truth of the moment, celebrating the deepest most incredible connections, and showcasing how amazing life is when we are in a state where we are free to express our true selves. This is what I wanted to share with you all. Thanks for listening. See more

12.01.2022 BLOODY HELL. It's been a roller coaster of a year. I couldn't have imagined my first year trying to make it full time in photography would have occurred in the middle of pandemic. There have been so many moments where I have questioned everything. Whether this was the right decision, whether I should go back to my health career, whether what i was doing was of enough value considering the state of the world. The amount of times i've asked myself 'what the frakking frak am I d...oing' has been numerous. . After much prolonged considerations and mediations I've come to the conclusion that the path i've chosen is the path i'm walking and is the path for me. The burning passion, desire, the amount I've cried because of my 'failures'. I've never been so emotional about a career as I have through the highs and lows of photography. . And it's really hit me this year, why I've been so emotional about it. It's because the truth is I BLOODY CARE. I give a damn about what I create, it means the world to me, and whether what I create truly helps others and makes a difference for the businesses I work with. The path to photography has not been smooth AT ALL, but it is a blessing. To quote from The Alchemist - 'A blessing ignored becomes a curse'. So here's to pursuing our passions - not matter how topsy turvy and batshit crazy the path is. If you can relate would love to hear from you, would be awesome to feel that i'm not alone in this roller coaster journey. 12.01.2022 Capture the Present began as a passion project focused on event and wedding photography. Whilst I enjoyed capturing the amazing moments and the experience greatly developed my skills, as time passed, I felt compelled to do more with my photography. I quickly took on a wide a variety of gigs, shooting family portraits to promo images for businesses. I noticed I received a HUGE sense of reward when business owners used their images to expand and grow. I realised my drive and... passion came from helping passionate businesses engage meaningfully with their audience through amazing visual content. The fulfilment has led me to focus Capture the Present towards creating engaging brand visual content for passionate businesses to showcase who they are, what they do, and why they matter to their audiences. This involves photography, videography through to animations, underpinned with a deep knowledge of brand and marketing philosophies to ensure the content we create is more than just pretty pictures. Rather it's about creating eye catching visuals that craft a super clear narrative aligned with your brand message and outcomes you’re hoping to achieve. We look forward to working with you throughout this journey Image courtesy: Nathaniel Schilling

11.01.2022 [FREEDOM] From the conversations I've been having with people, the ones who are thriving during this lockdown period are the ones who have shaped their homes into a sanctuary and a place of joy. Because we're all going to be spending more time in our houses why not spend the next few days to creating your house into more of a sanctuary. Hang up some art, put up some pictures, reorganise so that you feel comfortable, safe and truly happy in your home. 10.01.2022 When I first started shooting Id only seek out the big reactions to capture. For instance; the face thats exploding with rapturous laughter, or the hold-me-so-tight-it-hurts-to-love you expression that some couples have when they embrace each other. But as I grew as a shooter and as a person, it hit me that the quieter in-between moments were also equally as powerful, just in a different way. I really believe life is a painting of a myriad of expressions, moods and tones and I believe its important to celebrate and recognise every individual stroke in time. #adelaideweddings #documentarystyle

10.01.2022 Moments during the day from Kate & Duncan's big day. If I recall correctly, when I met Kate and Duncan we were talking about potential ideas for shots and I asked Duncan, would you be able to lift Kate up in your suit? And im pretty sure Duncans response was Have you seen my calves? He was right to ask that question, the man has some seriously impressive calves. So naturally a bridal lift shot was required . You see, Duncan and Kate met at a gym, so movement naturally be...came a big part of their shoot to reflect their initial encounter. My perspective is, I need to honour the couples that I shoot. Present a snapshot of the truest nature of them, not some cookie cutter image that we see in a magazine. Duncan and Kate had a definitive sweetness and innocent joy to them as a couple, and I wanted to highlight that throughout their wedding! I really hope I achieved that. Heres to celebrating the true nature of Kate and Duncan and whomever you are too. Cheers

09.01.2022 Introducing Achuil, our next subject for the STRONGER TOGETHER exhibition with Welcoming Australia - which provides insights into the lives of individuals from diverse backgrounds. This is Achuil and a snippet of his significant life story about growing up in Sudan and coming to Australia. You can see Achuil’s portrait and read about his story at Sparkke at the Whitmore between Sept 25-Oct 25 (head upstairs for the exhibition!) . .... . I was born in the middle of the war between South and North Sudan in 1990. When I was eight years old, my brother decided we would go to a refugee camp in Kenya. He left, then when he knew it was safe there, he sent for myself and my cousin. It was a survival life, it was far from home. When you leave, you just leave for safety. It’s easy to feel like a victim but everything that’s happened has made me more resilient in a way. The way we were raised is to just focus on whatever comes your way and what you need to do. This is how I’ve lived and because I’ve come out the other end, I want to help people.

09.01.2022 [TRUTH + CONNECTION + FREEDOM] . Dear COVID-19. You will not be the thief of joy or deprive us of our freedoms. Your temporary presence on this Earth exists merely to remind us to focus in on the important things in life that make it worth living. 09.01.2022 [FREEDOM] From the conversations Ive been having with people, the ones who are thriving during this lockdown period are the ones who have shaped their homes into a sanctuary and a place of joy. Because were all going to be spending more time in our houses why not spend the next few days to creating your house into more of a sanctuary. Hang up some art, put up some pictures, reorganise so that you feel comfortable, safe and truly happy in your home. And then when this all c...lears up, and if you feel called for it I can come over there for an at home portraiture session with you and your loved one with @kimtnn and @ben.doecke . . . #loveintentionally #loveauthentic #authenticlovemag #kiss #girlfriend #partner #Bae #couplegoals #hugs #couplessession #intimate #visualcoop #emotionsurfers #belovedstories #adventuresession #couplesportrait #adelaidephotography #adelaidephotographer #fearlessphotographers #justalittleloveinspo #loveandwildhearts #couple #adelaide #southaustralia #capturethepresent See more

09.01.2022 [FREEDOM] The night before Liv and Braden's wedding, the amazing couple kindly invited me and my second shooter @momentsbyirtaza to the pre-wedding dinner. After a hearty meal, Liv also showed us the house where she was going to get prepped. I was SO lucky to have my camera handy. After a bit of chill time, the bridal group threw on some tunes and then things kicked off. But the energy levels really hit the roof when 'From Now On' from the Greatest Showman came on, and I was ...so stoked to be able to capture the sheer joy and freedom of the group dancing along to the song - looking at this sequence of photos just gives me a massive smile. and I hope it does the same for Liv and Braden too. FYI I'd never been inspired to watch the Greatest Showman until I took these photos - in fact I just watched it the other night - totally dug it too . #adelaideweddingphotographer #adelaidephotographer See more

09.01.2022 The forehead to forehead and nose to nose touch is a greeting thats prevalent in many cultures and there seems to be a few explanations of what the action represents. The explanation I absolutely love is that its a symbolic exchange of both the breath and thoughts. Now thats a DEEP CONNECTION #adelaidephotographer #adelaidewedding #connection ... #adelaide

08.01.2022 The most frequent questions I get asked by couples is which parts of the day do I recommend getting photography coverage for. My response is always choose what is right for you. Envisage all the moments that would mean the MOST to you, the moments that would truly make your heart leap and sing when you see the images. Then structure the coverage around that. For instance, some couples aren't phased about the dance floor shots or even having a first dance - but for some it's a moment that they want to have captured forever #adelaidephotographer #adelaideweddings #glenewinestate

08.01.2022 Moments during the day from Kate & Duncans big day. Cheers

08.01.2022 What's the narrative you are crafting with your images? A single image can be incredibly powerful, but you can also use a sequence of images to tell your authentic story. With this sequence of images shot for at Sucre Patisserie the aim was to highlight the warmth, and care you experience as a customers when you walk through the doors of the store, alongside showcasing the availability of contactless payment. For the sake of this post, I decided to string all the images toget...her in a looping animation to showcase the complete amazing customer experience @ Sucre . . . #photography #adelaidebusiness #contentcreation #digitalmarketing #marketingadelaide #digitalcontentmarketing See more

07.01.2022 Introducing our next participant for the STRONGER TOGETHER exhibition with Welcoming Australia. This is Setishma and a snippet of her harrowing story of how her mother and her escaped political conflict in the middle of the night and made it across to Australia - you can see Setishma's portrait and hear an audio recording of her story at Sparkke at the Whitmore between Sept 25-Oct 25 (head upstairs for the exhibition!) . . . I was born in a small, landlocked Himalayan k...ingdom located between China and India. Due to the political situation, my parents had no option but to escape in the middle of night. My dad had been put in jail, so he couldn’t leave the country. He never saw my mum when she was pregnant, or my birth. My mother left Bhutan when I was only 21 days old and brother 15-months-old. . Living almost all of my teenage life in a refugee camp made me resilient and ambitious and gave me the aspiration to look deeper for opportunities to serve humanity with great enthusiasm . . . #adelaide #events #multiculturalism #photography #diversity #welcomingaustralia #southaustralia #strongertogether #connection #unity #community #photographyexhibition #adelaideevents #adelaideexhibitions #adelaideart #southaustralianart #localartssa #artguidesa #whatsonadelaide #whatsonsa #whatsonsouthaustralia See more

07.01.2022 I am super excited and inspired to announce a project that I have been working on this year. We hope to see you on opening night at The Sparkke Change Beverage Company on the 25th of September!

07.01.2022 [TRUTH + CONNECTION] Amidst the prevalence of adversity - happiness, joy, love and connection never cease. They are always here to uplift us and inspire. 07.01.2022 Introducing our next subject for the STRONGER TOGETHER exhibition with Welcoming Australia which provides insights into the lives of individuals from diverse backgrounds. This is Adila and a snippet of her story about being of Uyghur ethnicity and living in Australia - you can see Adila’s portrait and read about her unique story at Sparkke at the Whitmore between Sept 25-Oct 25 (head upstairs for the exhibition!) . . . ... ‘But it gets tougher to be Uyghur as you grow older. Not because you don’t want to identify with it, but because it can be so draining. Although I understood the importance of identifying as Uyghur, it got tiring to explain to everyone who asked. Too many times, I would wave it off and explain that I was Turkish or if I really wanted to be difficult, I would tell people I was just Australian and that’s it. But once you realise that in your home country that it’s basically almost a crime to just be Uyghur, it makes you regret the times you were lazy to explain who you were.’ . . . . #adelaide #events #multiculturalism #photography #diversity #welcomingaustralia #southaustralia #strongertogether #connection #unity #community #photographyexhibition #adelaideevents #adelaideexhibitions #adelaideart #southaustralianart #localartssa #artguidesa #whatsonadelaide #whatsonsa #whatsonsouthaustralia See more

06.01.2022 [Shauns.Authentic.Truth Day] a.k.a S.A.Tday post . Well, what a freakin week its been. Im catching myself after a crazy week of cancellations and incredible uncertainty for so many businesses, friends, families and people I know. The key truth im getting today is; for all those in the industry, all those looking to get married, all those looking hold events etc etc - take a moment and breathe before you act. Its important that the decisions we make from here onwards c...ome from a space of clarity rather than fear and panic. I personally understand the financial strain and the societal pressures involved. But when financial advisors and business advisors and not just health professionals are recommending prioritising physical health and isolation first over anything else - then I think that says something about our current predicament. As someone who is relatively young and healthy I realise the sacrifices we are being told to make right now is not just about protecting myself - its more so about protecting those around me- both family, friends and strangers who are highly vulnerable and preventing overwhelming the health system. So stay true to your heart, keep connecting (from a distance) and stay safe. Much love #adelaidephotographer #truthspeaks #selfportrait

06.01.2022 In a Black and White kinda mood.... Have you ever thought about black and white images for your album? The great thing about black and white for weddings and events is quite often as photographers we don't get a choice of background - so often there can be a lot going on. Editing in black and white allows us to cut out competing colours and distractions and hone into the moment that we're really trying to capture in an image. So if you haven't thought about black and white images, I highly recommend them! #adelaidephotographer #adelaideweddings #weddingphotography

04.01.2022 [TRUTH] Blog is UP! It took me awhile to get around to it, but Ive finally dipped my toe into the blog pool (actually, blog pool sounds kinda gross ). ANYWAYS - click on the link to be directed to the happy snaps for Kim and Bens pre-quarantine at home photoshoot!

04.01.2022 [CONNECTION] With the current isolation recommendations - I absolutely understand the need to avoid populated spaces and crowds. So heading to incredible outdoor venues with lots of people around probably isn't the best idea for photos. However, if you're still after deeply moving, beautiful images to highlight the connection between you and your loved ones, there are still ways to do that. How about a unique portrait session in your own home? Portrait sessions at home for c...ouples tend to generate amazingly natural moments, because my couples I shoot are so comfortable in their home environment. So if you're comfortable having a photographer in your home during this time (and as long as the government hasn't enforced not under complete lockdown yet), drop me a DM to arrange a session. I'll bring the sanitiser if you bring the smiles #Adelaidephotographer #portraits #sanitiser

04.01.2022 [FREEDOM] We may not be able to go into restaurants, bars or entertainment venues at the moment - but we sure as hell can make the most of of our amazing great outdoors. As long as you social distance - what are you waiting for?? #adelaidephotographer #adelaideweddings

04.01.2022 When I first started shooting I'd only seek out the big reactions to capture. For instance; the face that's exploding with rapturous laughter, or the hold-me-so-tight-it-hurts-to-love you expression that some couples have when they embrace each other. But as I grew as a shooter and as a person, it hit me that the quieter in-between moments were also equally as powerful, just in a different way. I really believe life is a painting of a myriad of expressions, moods and tones and I believe it's important to celebrate and recognise every individual stroke in time. #adelaideweddings #documentarystyle

02.01.2022 [TRUTH + CONNECTION + FREEDOM] Now this photo is EVERYTHING for me as a photographer. Often I like to get deep with what I write about what images mean to me - but often the reason I like taking photos is due to the simple fact it makes me bloody smile. . Congrats again to Liv and Braden for an amazing rural wedding in Mildura. I was super lucky to be involved in this wedding and couldn't have asked for a more incredible atmosphere and scenery (wedding was held on Liv's ...parents private property). Whilst the whole day was a joy ride, it was at night time that I felt the energy surge, and the pulse of the wedding just spiked off the charts. For me this image completely represents the emotion and feeling of the night and I think the bridal couple are gonna love it too : ). . . 02.01.2022 [TRUTH + CONNECTION + FREEDOM] 'And the people stayed home. And read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still. And listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced, Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently. And the people healed. And in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless and heartless ways, the earth began to heal. ... And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed'. - Kitty O'Meara This poem was shared to me and it echoes the mindset I have of the current situation. What if this was the universe's way of reminding us to focus in on the things that are truly most important in our lives? Elements such as love, connection, family. Agree or Disagree? Just a question for us to ponder during this Sunday. Stay safe FYI go google Kitty O'Meara and poem to learn more about the amazing poem she has written during this time. #homeportrait #capturethepresent #adelaidephotographer

01.01.2022 [CONNECTION] A bit of joyous prewedding magic shot by second shooter @momentsbyirtaza. Quite often I get the enquiry from my couples about whether they should have a second photographer to cover their wedding day. Well the pros of that is you often get various angles and frames of specific moments. For instance, in this moment I was focusing on landscape orientation whilst Irtaza decided to go for a portrait mode. For quick fire moments like the walk down the aisle where you... can't pause the moment - it's great to have a second shooter. In addition, with a second shooter you also get a lot of moments of the bridal party and guests that otherwise wouldn't get captured - because as a sole shooter we're often focusing more on the bride and groom. The con of course is the additional fee it'll cost to have the second shooter on board. End of the day, it's up to you to weigh up whether the pro's outweigh the cons! #adelaideweddingphotographer #preweddingshoot
