23.01.2022 This is the first in my series of comparisons. Please accept that I might be the one becoming older, and I might be looking back into the past as equally as I do towards the future. At the same time, I will never be the one exclaiming: "O tempora, o mores!" every time I see or encounter anything new. But...My favourite designers started to disappoint me. Pierre Hardy, the one who has been designing fine jewellery for Hermes since 2001 and who worked on men's and women's colle...ctions for BALENCIAGA in 2001-2013, is my favourite designer of bags. The one, in the upper left corner, is my favourite crossover messenger bag which now you can only buy preloved. They don't exist anymore. They were made from the softest suede with the smoothest leather trimmings. They weighed nothing, they had the most beautiful magnetic lock, they were IT bags of 2006-2010. Not anymore. The IT bag now is the one in the upper right corner - the 3D cube canvas bag with leather trimmings. The original and the best! As Goyard, Gucci, Louis Vuitton never thought about those(. Ugh...Pauric Sweeney, one of the not too many Irish designers worked with Raf Simons, with Jill Sander... He got his highest acclaim for inventing those metallic or exotic skin bags in 2008. At that stage, he was compared to Tom Ford for his impeccable eye for design and detail. The bag came in many shapes, many types of leather, skins and colours. The main feature was those military belts like leather trimmings. They created a very elegant contrast to the beautiful leathers used for the bags. Not anymore. The one in the bottom right is one of the newcomers. No more luxury finishings, just a bag. You can buy it from anywhere. I do t believe it is made in Italy anymore? What drives those designers towards the change? The bottom line, of course. The bottom line might force them to hit rock bottom. God forbid. I hope they will survive by coming back to their roots. #designerlife #bag #pauricsweeney #pierrehardy #newdoesntmeanbetter #followme @caraandco_magazine @pierrehardy @pauricsweeney See more

22.01.2022 I come from the culture of Soviet chocolates which were not bad to tell you the truth. One day I will dedicate an Instagram to those chocolates, especially to the Bird’s Milk variety. When first time in Antwerp, my daughter and I tried hot chocolate in one of those nothing to remember type of cafes. I was hooked. I thought, Antwerp, was part of heaven and I lived in heaven too. Belgium has a special place among chocolate aficionados and is the first European country to start ...producing it commercially. Due to the Spanish Habsburg Empire, due to the occupation of Congo, due to the Rotterdam securing the import of cocoa beans from Western Africa and South and Central America, Belgium became the Queen of chocolate production in the world. I won’t go into the EU regulations which tried to level the UK chocolate and the Belgian chocolate. In short, Belgium chocolate has much higher cocoa content and is above the EU Mark. Maybe Belgium will vote for Bexit because of this). From the top left clockwise 1)Pierre Marcolini is to chocolate as Chanel is to fashion. He is an innovator and at the same time a traditionalist. He is the first in the world haute chocolatier. Nestle invested in Marcolini. He bought them out in 4 years later. With 30 shops around the world, Marcolini’s production is still in Sablon, the most luxurious part of Brussels. 2) Jean Galler was sixteen when he realised that chocolate was his passion. He produces mostly chocolate bars which look similar to gold nuggets. Since 1994, Galler holds the title of Royal Warrant Holder of the Court of Belgium. 3) who would have known that one of the finest Belgian chocolatiers is now living in Sydney? Thanks to my neighbour @robgrieve, I know, but only from last Wednesday. The owner and head chocolatier Jan ter Heerdt is from Antwerp. His father started Belle Fleur in 1985 in Sydney. They have two shops in Sydney, one in Rozelle, another one in Perersham, where the factory is. The chocolate is so good, it saves you the trip to Belgium. It is my piece of paradise in Sydney. 4) Chocolatier Spegelaere is described by connoisseurs as the best kept secret not known to tourists. It’s simply the best! Thank you Belgium See more

04.01.2022 The scar on my neck will get me a role in the future Kings’s movies, there is a plan to lose another 7 kilos after the first 13 already lost. Still deciding on the colour of the future hair. Spring is in the air. In the colours of the bags and Paddington doors. My life. To be continued. #fashionblogger #feelingood #backinthesaddle #paddington #sprinisinthesoul @caraandco_magazine
