25.01.2022 Hi guys Colin here, ‘Battery’s’ what a minefield Let me just try to explain the basics ( there’s going to be ex engineers and electro specialists not agree at some point but this is for us the normal human trying to work out how they work ). Ok, long gone are the lead acid battery’s. Remember the ones where you had to top up with distilled water? ... Today you have by law sealed battery’s, but this is where it gets interesting What’s out there? Every caravan has a deep cycled battery What’s the difference? Well your car battery is designed to just start your car. As soon as your car starts then the alternator provides around 60 amps of power to keep you running well (smart Alternators another chat ). A car battery is designed to discharge fully ( as in turn the engine ) but recharge immediately because normally your car starts straight away. HOWEVER Your van has a deep cycled battery which is designed to discharge and recharge slowly That’s the 100 amp per hr or higher For example a 100 amp per hr deep cycled battery can produce 100amps per hour until its flat ( tv , lights etc ). That’s what capacity it has BUT if you let them go below 12 volts they don’t like it MY POINT? Simple! Don’t let the battery go flat How can you prevent this? Solar / charger Most importantly if your van is in storage then disconnect it if you have no power or solar. At least once a month connect power if you can or take out the battery/s and buy a cheap charger to keep them topped up. They love for example: 12 hours on charge 12 hours rest How long do battery’s last? A million dollar question, on average 2 to 3 years It’s about how you use it ( remember they love being discharged and recharged ) Battery types: Lead acids. AGM . Lithium If there’s is enough interest I would be happy to explain further. Be safe be happy and above all we all can’t wait to get back on the road Anything I can do to help just shout out Regards Colin

25.01.2022 Thankyou Gary & Marilyn for your lovely email. It was an absolute pleasure to assist you. Regards Colin

24.01.2022 Due to being a Sole Trader, I am still open for business. I come to you, while you and your family stay safe in your home. I am having many emails and enquires, with people wanting to have their caravans pre-checked and serviced. They in turn will use their caravan if a family member becomes unwell and needs a comfortable safe space away (but still comfortably close) from the family to recover. As we hope this never becomes the case- We just like to think, everyone is using... this extra time to plan for their next holiday away, camping with all of the family and friends we are all missing terribly during these times. Please feel free to PM me any questions and I will get back to you ASAP. Col. #staysafe #stayinside #beprepared

20.01.2022 WARNING There have been many recent comments on websites, in relation to owners fitting their own diesel heaters. Purchasing from China, or overseas these copies do not have the safety features that the Australian certified units have. I personally have removed these dangerous copies and reinstalled the correct Australian diesel heater namely the Domectic Airtronic D2 or the Eberspacer. Last year I had a gorgeous lady call me explaining that she went to bed and her cat woke her up during the night and her cabin was thick with unburnt diesel fumes. She would have died that night if it was not for her cat. This is what happens when you think you have a good deal. IS YOUR LIFE REALLY WORTH THAT. Please have your heater installed by a qualified technician and always remember you get what you pay for.

08.01.2022 Hi Guys I try to be short and factual , but after many more replies tonight it is evident that people that have fitted these cheap imports and copies of diesel heaters are happy with the way they operate. The problem is that they might look and operate as any other Australian Compliant Unit but internally the components for example the pre heat chamber for combustion burns through the wall of the unit into the heat outlet allowing diesel fumes which should go safely out of ...the exhaust straight into your motor home or caravan. The compliant units have sensors which if toxic fumes are picked up in the outlet the unit shuts down. This is one if the most vital safety features of a compliant heater and I have yet to see a copy which has this vital safety feature. Anyone concerned with their diesel heater please contact me by email. Regards. Colin See more

01.01.2022 What a day! Today I went to Cape Patterson to help a Judy with her hot water system. It was leaking badly.
