21.01.2022 Team members Catherine and Louise were served a big dose of optimism thanks to TEDxPerth yesterday. Imagine a decarbonised economy where the climate has stablilised, and resources secure so future generations can peacefully enjoy their time caretaking our earth. Imagine a world where native environments are thriving, and we have clean air and water. ... Imagine the benefits of incorporating First Nation's knowledge of country so we use our resources productively but without destroying them. The team heard from business and community leaders that this can be a reality. Many organisations have already committed to this course and are succeeding, but we need faster uptake and momentum. We are often told that we will lose out economically without our traditional industries, but business as usual is becoming financially risky with uncertain outcomes. In transitioning, we have the opportunity for a more robust and equitable economy, and the sooner we take action the better the climate outcome. As Christiana Figueres said yesterday, Imagine the future you want and use ‘determined optimism’ to reach it. #carbonpositiveaustralia #carbonpositive #TEDxPerth #climatechange #climateaction #climatesolutions #climateleadership #perthbusiness #wabusiness #businessolutions #yourfootprint #australiastrees #ourfuture

19.01.2022 We’ve joined Smartgroup’s National Vehicle Offset Program. Smartgroup customers who choose to offset the carbon emissions of their novated leased vehicles are now contributing to planting native trees at Eurardy Reserve, which is located on one of only 34 biodiversity hotspots recognised globally. On average, offsetting the carbon emissions of a small car will equate to 27 trees being planted, for a medium-sized car, it’s 32 trees and for a larger car, 36 trees will be plan...ted. Annually the new partnership will aim to see over a quarter of a million trees planted at Eurardy. 17.01.2022 We are excited to announce our new 2021 planting project near Nimbin, New South Wales. The project, which will provide a corridor between two national parks, is on 29 hectares of Widjabul Country. We are hoping to increase habitat for endangered species including koalas. We will also increase stocking in the dry rainforest area which... will improve biodiversity and encourage further natural regeneration. 12.01.2022 Jeff has told his employees that he is offsetting his business emissions, working towards a goal of becoming carbon positive. Jane has told her employees she is offsetting her business emissions, working towards a goal of becoming carbon negative. Terminology in the carbon world has always been a bit of an issue, and there has been some misunderstanding between the terms carbon positive and/or carbon negative, but whether the organisation says it’s positive or negative, thei...r goals are the same. We prefer the term carbon positive because of the many other benefits that accrue from meeting the goal. We want to live in a world where we all play an active role in climate solutions; where we support each other to not just turn around climate change, but innovate and create solutions that ensure a healthy future for generations to come.
