24.01.2022 ...Watch this space, for the announcement of the dates for Concerts in the Kirkland Carcoar series. In the coming weeks
23.01.2022 We had a wonderful afternoons concert titled "Waiting" - Music for Advent & Christmas - held last Sunday, 14th December, in the beautiful Immaculate Conception Church at Carcoar. The event was well attended with around 30 participants who enjoyed listening to Paul Prendergast, principal tenor with the Bathurst Cathedral Choir as well as Fr Tim Cahill on the organ and the Shalom Singers Kate and Francis Hansen, in a varied program of music new & old. A total of $333.75 was raised for the Organ Restoration Fund and everyone enjoyed a relaxing cuppa and cakes under the trees at Shalom afterwards.
22.01.2022 Archbishop Paul Gallagher who is the Apostolic Nuncio to Australia was invited by Bishop Michael to conduct Solemn Vespers in the Immaculate Conception Church at Carcoar on Saturday the 28th of June. During evening prayer the Archbishop blessed the restored 1890 Alfred Kirkland Organ and afterwards everyone enjoyed a lovely evening meal hosted at Shalom House of Prayer in the old convent next door. The Apostolic or papal nuncio is the Catholic Churchs equivalent of a diplomat or ambassador and represents the Holy See; Everyone was thrilled to have such a distinguished celebrant to bless this historic and rare organ in it's new life now that it is back home in the beautiful Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

22.01.2022 Shalom hosted a wonderful mens retreat recently. It was fully booked (within Covid restrictions) and participants had a wonderful time of gentle reflective pra...yer, reflections in the outdoors and supportive sharings. This was a time of both a retreat from the business and many road blocks of life to focus on the fruits of the spirit of participants and how they can be lived out in the real world. Well done to the Shalom team for hosting such a great renewal for men and leaders in our communities - Simon Price See more

09.01.2022 Enjoyed this afternoon the 2017 final concert in our Carcoar Kirkland Concert series: today it was presented by Bathurst-based Macquarie Male Singers, directed ...by the multi-talented Roland Augusczak. Entitled A Spring Concert, it showcased a wide range of individual and group talent, across a diverse selection of music - all arranged by Roland. Supporting artists Kathy Powell (a wonderful soprano!) and versatile pianist Marianna Hearn lent their skills to the occasion, as did bassist Henry Bialowas, with his brother Richard on guitar. A terrific afternoon!

08.01.2022 Congratulations to Pastór de Lasala OAM, who was the Organ Historical Trust (OHTA) Consultant for the restoration of our 1890 Alfred Kirkland pipe organ 5 years ago... and who has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia as part of the recent Queens Birthday Honours List, for his services to pipe organ restoration over many years! Pastór recently recorded another CD on the Kirkland Organ, which should be available soon
05.01.2022 Hey check out the progress made on the Organ Fund. Almost there! only a little under $9,000 to go. Don't forget the last Concert for the year on Dec 14th
04.01.2022 Concert for Bastille Day in aid of the restoration of the Carcoar Kirkland Organ Around 25 people braved the cold weather to attend a lovely afternoons entertainment at Carcoar. Fr Tim Cahill got the concert started with Prelude from Te Deum on the organ. This was followed by The Gendarmes' Duet with John Greenwell & Fr Tim. Young Ian Crossing was next, again on the organ and he demonstrated some amazing keyboard skills as well as giving the audience an appreciation of just ...how good the Kirkland sounds now that it is restored. Ian played 'Duetto BWV 805' by Johann Sabastian Bach. Tony Stuart and Jude Bertolin entertained us with a wonderful medley of French Music on the flute, fiddle, whistle and accordion. Tony and Jude were great at getting the audience involved and later led us in singing some classic french songs and an enthusiastic group from the audience in trying out some french folk dancing! One of the highlights of the concert was Fran Hansen singing La Vie en Rose; a well known Edith Piaff song which Fran brought to life with her interesting description of the life of Edith Piaff as well as her perfected french accent and passion for this song. Everyone enjoyed the concert and sing-a-long as well as the nice cakes, company and cuppa after the event over at Shalom. Stay tuned to this page for notice of the next concert as there will be more later in the year.
03.01.2022 We had 36 people who braved the snow and ice on a windy freezing day to attend the French Connections Concert on Sunday. While the weather may have been cold, the audience gave a very warm reception to the performing artists. After the concert we all enjoyed a French-style afternoon tea (with croissants !! ) and the visual displays showing various locals "French connections" were both interesting and visually beautiful. The afternoon finished with a lovely blanket of snow! Over $200 was raised which brings our total up to $32,783.45
