23.01.2022 Happy birthday Jenny ( today) and Kelly ( next Tuesday). Hope you both have a great day

22.01.2022 With community transmission occurring in the state, you should take extra precautions to protect others by wearing a mask. This video will show you how to wear... it properly. You should wear a mask: if it is hard to maintain 1.5 metres of physical distance from others when in high-risk indoor areas such as public transport, supermarkets, shops, places of worship and entertainment venues when caring for or serving vulnerable people if working in a cafe, restaurant, pub, club or other high-risk indoor areas. Wearing a mask in NSW is not mandatory. However, NSW Health strongly recommends people wear a mask when unable to physically distance, particularly in indoor settings, to keep everyone safe. You should also wear a mask if you: have any symptoms and are seeking medical care are going to get tested are in the same room as another person when you have symptoms or have been asked to self-isolate.

22.01.2022 Don’t forget daylight savings starts tomorrow morning , put your clocks forward one hour, or let your smart phone etc do it itself !

21.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE 5 SEPTEMBER It has been almost six months since the Hunter recorded its first case of COVID-19, and a month since our last positive case. This... is great news but we are not out of the woods yet. With the continuing flow of people between Sydney and here, it's just a question of time before we have another introduction unfortunately. Below is a six month summary of #COVID19 in the Hunter regions from the Newcastle Herald. in the last 6 months there have been 229 confirmed cases of the virus to date, and two deaths. More than 160,000 tests have been analysed. Across the HNE Health region there have been 37 hospitalisations. Of those,13 patients required intensive care, and five needed ventilation. We need to keep up the social and physical distancing measures, wear a mask when you are out, increased hand hygiene, and testing in incredible numbers to really help hunt down the virus. Keep up the good work.

I have spoken with HNE ...Health and NSW Health again this afternoon and can confirm that the Newcastle Local Government Area is NOT a hotspot. The last known case in Newcastle of COVID-19 was confirmed on 6 August. Newcastle has been named as an area for "increased testing". The word 'hotspot' has not been used. https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates

11.01.2022 Did you know the NSW Rural Fire Service has a program called AIDER? The AIDER (Assist Infirm, Disabled and Elderly Residents) program is a free, one-off service... which supports some of our most at-risk community members. The program helps people live more safely and confidently in their home in areas where bush fires may start. The AIDER program is designed for people who have limited domestic support available from family, relatives, friends or other services. This could include older people, people living with a disability, and people who are already receiving community assistance and services. Their property must also be on bush fire prone land (land that can support a bush fire or be subject to bush fire attack). AIDER services can include: clearing gutters thinning vegetation around the home removing leaf and tree debris trimming branches from close to the home mowing or slashing long grass. The current COVID-19 outbreak is an ongoing situation that continues to require changes to how the program is implemented. The NSW Rural Fire Service is continuing to monitor the situation, including taking steps to reduce the risk to our community members through delivery of the AIDER Program. The AIDER Program is currently suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions and the safety of our community is our priority. You may still register for the service below and a member of the NSW Rural Fire Service will contact you with an update when the service is available in our area. If you would like to know more about the free, one-off AIDER service, call 02 8741 4955 or email [email protected] or download the fact sheet. You can also fill out the form that’s attached link https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/plan-and-prepare/aider

08.01.2022 Yesterday it was asbestos and now they wont fit under the bridges along their route. These are the new ferries that the NSW Government paid $1.3 billion for and... sent the construction work and jobs offshore to China, Singapore and Indonesia. Following the delivery of some of the new ferries last week, the Maritime Union of Australia - MUA discovered asbestos in gaskets on three of the new vessels. And now, 10 new Sydney ferries will not be able to pass under two bridges on the Parramatta River if commuters are seated on the top deck. Passengers will be required to come down off the top deck of the ferries before the ferries can procced. Last year the Government bought trains from South Korea that didn’t fit the tracks. The is proves that we should always Build them here. We have world class train and boat builders right here in the Hunter. Photos Newcastle Herald The Sydney Morning Herald

07.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS Lower Hunter water restrictions will be lifted from October 1. Hunter Water have announced a move to lift Level 1 restrictions, which have bee...n in place since last September last year. Overall storages levels are at 79.4 per cent, up 16 per cent from the same time last year. Hunter Water customers will return to permanent water conservation measures from October 1. It's important that we all continue to save now for summer and not become complacent with our water use. The severe drought demonstrated how quickly our water storages can fall during the warmer months as they have large surface areas and are prone to evaporation.

01.01.2022 COVID-19 ALERT AND CASE UPDATE 29 AUGUST There have been no new cases again overnight in the HNE Health area. That is now over 3 weeks since our last case. Th...ere are currently 3 active cases in the Hunter 3 are in the 2303 postcode. Cases are still being transmitted within the community throughout Sydney. You should ensure you only travel to Sydney if it is essential. 14 new cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed by NSW Health overnight, bringing the total number of cases in NSW to 3,844. There were 24,632 tests reported in the 24-hour reporting period, compared with 30,282 in the previous 24 hours. Of the 14 new cases to 8pm last night: - 1 is a returned traveller who is in hotel quarantine - are linked to a known case or cluster - 3 are locally acquired with their source still under investigation 8 of the new cases are linked to the Sydney CBD cluster, bringing the total number of cases in this cluster to 23. Of the new cases, two are household contacts of previously reported cases, three attended the City Tattersalls Club, and three were close contacts of people linked to this cluster. Further investigations have found one case reported yesterday is also linked to this cluster. NSW Health is investigating whether the CBD cluster originated in the City Tattersalls Club and then spread to workplaces in the city and to households across Sydney and the Central Coast. To assist in identifying earlier and possible undiagnosed cases, NSW Health is asking anyone who attended the Club between 4 August 2020 18 August 2020 to get tested for COVID-19 and isolate until a negative test result is received. Genomic sequencing of the virus from cases in this cluster are related to other recent clusters in NSW. This virus is genetically different to that of the Marriott Hotel security guard, who had a strain that had come from overseas. All identified close contacts of cases linked to this cluster are being contacted and told they must isolate for 14 days, get tested, get another test if any symptoms develop and stay isolated for the full 14 days, even if a negative test result is received within this period. Among the new cases today, two are household contacts of cases linked to Liverpool Hospital. Prior to diagnosis many of the recently confirmed cases have attended a variety of locations and a full list of locations is available on the link below. New COVID-19 cases have visited the following locations in Mosman, St Ives and Rosebery and people attending at the same time must monitor for symptoms, get tested immediately if they develop and stay isolated until a negative test result is received: - Archie Bear café, Mosman Rowers - 24 August 11am to 12 noon and Tuesday 25 August 9:00am to 9.30am - Rosebery Post Shop, 371 Gardeners Rd, Rosebery - 26 August 1:30pm-1:40pm - St Ives Shopping Centre, 166 Mona Vale Rd, St Ives - 24 August 2:30pm-3:30 pm NSW Health is treating 67 COVID-19 cases, including six in intensive care and four who are ventilated. 85 per cent of cases being treated by NSW Health are in non-acute, out-of-hospital care. Due to the widening spread of the CBD cluster across multiple locations in the Sydney and Central Coast, NSW Health is strongly advising people who live or work in these areas to not visit aged care facilities at this time. This is a precaution while the cluster is investigated, cases are identified and isolated and contact tracing is done. NSW Health will continue to closely monitor the number and location of cases in Sydney and the Central Coast and will adjust the advice regarding visitor restrictions on aged care facilities according to the level of local risk. NSW Health will provide an update during the next week. COVID-19 continues to circulate in the community and we must all be vigilant. It is vital that people get a test as soon as they develop symptoms. People should ensure that they stay at least 1.5m from others and that they wear a mask in situations - especially on public transport - where physical distancing is difficult Locations linked to known cases, advice on testing and isolation, and areas identified for increased testing can be found here: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/latest-news-and-updates.
