20.01.2022 The more hands make light work get behind the cobras 2021

20.01.2022 Just as clarification on my earlier email this week I can confirm the NHCRL proposed 2020 format (subject to the lifting of health restrictions) is the following: 2nd July: Return to training... 18th July: Round 1 This will be followed by a 10 round home and away series, with one spare weekend leading up to the final regular season round on the 26th September. We then intend to run a three week (top 4) semi final series, with the Grand Finals on Saturday the 24th October. We know that will potentially run into the cricket season, however only for three rounds, and there is currently discussion for their season to be pushed back slightly in any case. The specific size of each division will depend on team nominations. Please be aware that the Newcastle Rugby League are unlikely to field (as reported several times this week) and as such all players from that competition, as well as specific teams if they want, are eligible to enter our competition. Any contract/registration that may have been valid, will not be should they not go ahead. We want as many people as we possibly can to get on the park so please encourage anyone you know, should they not proceed, to come along. Happy to take them as individuals or as a team. We will find a home for everyone. On the reported stimulus package please hold for information. Some discussion has been had at Committee level and that will be ongoing. Hopefully some formal announcements soon. Please note also that discussions are being had at various other levels to reduce your regular costs for the year. You will be updated, hopefully this week, on the results of all of that. Bearing in mind the sheer number of clubs it is a difficult one but please be aware we are literally pouring every effort, and capital, we have raised in recent seasons, to keep as many, and hopefully all, our teams participating in 2020. We are acutely aware of the difficulty in resurrecting a club again should yours not proceed. I will keep everyone updated for training venues etc after next committee meeting Thanks Steven Janissen

10.01.2022 Just want to say that the Cobra’s committee and coaching staff will require a great deal of support this year. We are keen to recruit younger members to the committee and coaching staff. Current and new players and their partners are most welcome. Many of the current staff have given a great deal of time and commitment to Cobra’s and it’s almost time for a changing of the guard. This year will be a learning year so come and join in. It’s almost time to hand over the r...eigns to a much younger cohort so we look forward and appreciate anyone willing to offer support. Doesn’t really matter if you think you don’t have the skill set as we had to start somewhere. Rest assured that we will support everyone taking on new positions for example strappers , ground staff, canteen assistants, Committee, and so on. Looking forward to meeting anyone intetested and you will be welcome with open arms. Your involvement will be a great addition to your resumes. Thanks again everyone for your understanding and commitment to the Cardiff Cobras.

10.01.2022 Hi again everyone and welcome to pre season training for 2021. The purpose of this post is to thank you all for your commitment, and willingness to be a part of the early training efforts which can only lead to positive and prosperous season ahead. Just want to say WELCOME to new and returning players and their families. We appreciate everyone for abiding by the Clubs request to respect all facilities at Cardiff No 1 oval, including its Cricket pitch. We must all remem...ber that everyone needs to remain clear of this area at all times. Please keep an eye on our little members too as they can wander onto pitch and may innocently cause damage issues for the shared users who play there on the weekends. We cannnot be responsible for what happens in our absence; but we can care for the shared spaces when we are the users. Thanks for understanding. As community members there is a need for us all to work collaboratively whilst continuing to building positive relationships with all members and users in an effort to maintain the standard of the ground at its facilities. I reiterate a point made previously regarding all players wearing joggers to training in an effort to protect the surfaces. I see that you have all been doing so and I thank you for that. I ask that you remind any new players that come along to wear joggers and avoid the Cricket pitch, no exceptions. Our training will be every Tuesday with the exception of 15th December when we will be heading off to train at Redhead Beach. Enjoy your beach training session next week and don’t forget bring your towels I wish everyone a Happy, Healthy Christmas and New Year from the Cobras Committee and coaching staff. Please remember to remain COVID safe. And thank you once again. Merry Christmas to all .

07.01.2022 I applaud the decision that the league has made regarding them stepping down from their positions to show support for the racially vilified players at Dora Creek. First and foremost, I want to say, I don’t agree with violence at all in any capacity. But....I also consider the circumstances under which it occurred at the football last weekend. It was actions of supporters for Dora Creek on the sideline that caused the issue. ... It all boils down to Actions/ inaction and reactions. 1- Abuse by spectators from Dora Creek 2- The president and committee’s inaction to protect players as part of their duty of care 3- reaction by players who responded to the abuse and decided to take a stand. I don’t agree with violence in any way... but I don’t and won’t stand for racial vilification. It’s time Australia and the world addressed racism as it is a disease. If the general public placed themselves in the position of a person who is vilified every day things most certainly would change dramatically, society would be different. Maybe they will then take a stand and unite and respect our Indigenous brothers and sisters. Thank you to the league for taking a stand for what is right.

04.01.2022 COBRAS 2020 SEASON It is with mixed emotions that Cardiff Cobras Committee post this message but we feel we have no real alternative due to the impact of Corona Virus on our Community in 2020 this year. We have considered the Cobras current situation and cannot see our way to eliminating the risks and barriers we face due to COVID 19. Cardiff Cobra’s Football Club has a long history of participating in the local league since 1934 so the decision we have made has not been m...Continue reading
