24.01.2022 Our Year 8 Reflection Day this year focused on the theme of kindness. Students heard from local community group ‘Be The One', learnt more about what kindness means to them and engaged in activities to challenge their thinking. To conclude the day students created an art mural that is now displayed in the amphitheatre.

21.01.2022 As part of our recent Bandanna Day celebrations, the MacKillop students created their own sidewalk bandanna designs. Their final chalk bandannas were amazing and brought colour and joy to our community. During our fundraising efforts students raised an outstanding $605! Jules from Canteen Australia shared stories about the clients who received the care-packs created during our Athon outreach activities earlier this year. She said the packs have been an amazing support this year, especially through COVID restrictions and thanked Cardijn on behalf of Canteen for our ongoing, generous support.

18.01.2022 COVID-19 update An update to the arrangements for learning at Cardijn from Monday 23 November has been sent to families via email. Following the announcement from Premier Steven Marshall that schools will reopen on Monday, we will be welcoming students back onsite for face-to-face learning.... Face-to-face lessons will resume for students in Years 7, 8 and 9. The following measures will still be in place despite Cardijn College reopening: Year 10 and 11 exams have been cancelled and modifications made to assessments for students to not include the end of year exams Year 12 transition day is cancelled and students will receive information about Year 12 via email from their teachers early next week Year 8 camp is cancelled and students will undertake normal lessons at school The wearing of masks is not mandatory however students may choose to wear masks in transit between school and home. More information relating to arrangements for Week 8 will be communicated next week.

16.01.2022 Year 10 and 11 students are invited to visit Cardijn College on either Wednesday or Thursday this week between 8am 4pm to clear out lockers, return library books and collect their yearbook and belongings. We will be hosting our new Year 7 students for their transition day on Friday so unfortunately the school will be closed to all other visitors.



12.01.2022 We recently celebrated National NAIDOC Week, a time that invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country that dates back thousands of generations. Southern Basket Weavers visited us to show students traditional basket-weaving skills. Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) students also engaged in a Cultural Awareness day at Tauondi Aboriginal College where they participated in a Welcome to Country and Remembrance Day ceremony that focused on the involvement of ATSI persons. The group also had the opportunity to engage in painting with Aboriginal Artist, Chris Crebbin and traditional cooking with Kira Bain and Jonathon Lindsay-Tjapatjarri Hermawan.

10.01.2022 Please be reminded of the following information for the last day of Term 4 tomorrow (3/12): All students are to wear PE uniform Dismissal will be at the normal time of 3.23pm This will be the last day for students from Years 10 and 11 to return to Cardijn to clear out lockers, return library books, collect a yearbook and any belongings.

09.01.2022 How talented are our Visual Arts and Creative Arts students! We hosted our Cardijn College Art Show this term. The range of works on display showcased the many talents of our Year 12s. They explored themes ranging from sustainability, connection to nature, cultural heritage, friendship, personal identity, mourning, and natural disasters. Students truly embraced the power of the arts this year and have used this as their opportunity to convey their message to the world. Also on display are selected works from Years 7, 8, 9, and 11.

08.01.2022 We recently held our Step Up to Middle School day at Galilee, Aldinga! This event was an Immersion experience for current Year 5, 6 and 7 students of Galilee. Students engaged in activities and lessons they can expect to encounter in middle school. A group of Year 7 Cardijn students assisted in leading the day and were a fantastic help!



02.01.2022 This semester’s MarValla Café initiative continued to provide Marist and LaValla students with the opportunity to enhance their employability skills. The group researched community social justice issues and the importance of helping others in need. They chose to donate 60% of the semester café profits to RSPCA Lonsdale and the St Vincent de Paul Society. Students presented their donation to RSPCA Lonsdale and purchased various age-appropriate gifts and placed them under the giving tree to be distributed by Vinnies Australia.

01.01.2022 Year 8s have been having a brilliant time at their Year 8 Camp days! Students have been using this time to build friendships and have fun together whilst challenging their skills. One more day of adventures to go!
