13.01.2022 Message from CPAC As you would all now be aware, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared that COVID-19 can be characterised as a pandemic. An announcement like this will no doubt cause increased concern within the community, however, it is a reminder that we need to take this rapidly evolving situation seriously. We have been advised by professionals in the field and are informed with the latest information and statistics from WHO and Monash Health to manage the cha...llenges of COVID-19 safely and effectively within the scope of our performing arts company. Management and our Priscilla production team have been planning for the upcoming auditions and production due to be staged in August/Sept this year. At this point in time, we have vigilantly presupposed an assortment of various scenarios and have subsequently prepared a solution based on the current guidelines and restrictions available to us. As such, Priscilla Queen of the Dessert auditions WILL go ahead on April 4th, 5th and 6th April 2020. In an audition scenario, CPAC are well within the guidelines of social isolation and infection control to move forward with this event. Following the auditions and subsequent casting, there will then be a 14-21 day break before rehearsals commence. Following this further small isolation period rehearsals will commence late April 2020. The script of Priscilla and the nature of most of the scene work will enable the rehearsal schedule to focus on having small selections of cast rehearse initially. Furthermore, we are working to make all music parts available in an online format to initially limit the amount of time spent in a group larger than 20 people, whilst still allowing the show to move forward into production. It is our hope that by early May/June 2020, based on the information provided from WHO and the predicted patterns of movement of COVID-19 that rehearsals WILL move forward as per CPAC’S guidelines, towards an August/September season at the Cranbourne Community Theatre which has a seating capacity of 250 people per performance. However should we need postpone the production season to another date we will keep our community informed of any changes. In the meantime, tickets will remain on sale with refunds available should date changes occur. None of these decisions have been taken lightly and we have appropriated the risks ahead in the short and long term. And with this in mind, we will band together and do what is necessary to protect our CPAC community and each other and the integrity of Community Theatre and Arts and continue to produce and stage quality community theatre for the wider Cardinia and surrounding areas. So with these cautionary guidelines at this point in time we WILL PROCEED with our production of PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT. Chookas, See you at the auditions and most importantly, stay vigilant.
