Our FREE green waste drop-off event is happening this weekend at Lysterfield: Friday 4 - Monday 7 December 2020, 9am to 4pm Lysterfield Cleanaway Resource Recovery Centre. 840 Wellington Rd, Lysterfield ... Our green waste drop-off events accept residential amounts of green waste, including flowers, garden prunings, grass clippings, leaves, tree branches and trunks (up to 30 centimetres wide and 1 metre long), and weeds. Residents must present photo ID as proof of residence within Cardinia Shire to access the free service. Waste will only be accepted from residential vehicles and trailers; commercial business operators cannot use this service. Together Alone is a collection of artworks responding to the isolation and mental health challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic while (dis)embodied relates identity to the spaces in which our bodies are confined. 23.01.2022 Today is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women - it's also the first day of the United Nation’s 16 Days of Activism against gender-Based Violence. Coinciding with this campaign is Respect Victoria’s ‘Respect Women: Call it out’ initiative which also runs from 25 November to 10 December. The initiative, which Council supports, encourages Victorians to call out sexism, sexual harassment and disrespect towards women. ... During this time, we all have an opportunity to support our communities to understand what gender equality looks like and how striving for equality can prevent violence against women. 20.01.2022 It’s great to see the Friends of Gembrook Park out and about doing what they do best caring for our flora and fauna! Established in 1995, this friendly community group hosts working bees every Thursday 9am till 12pm with the occasional weekend working bee planned for 2021. Follow their Facebook page (Friends of Gembrook Park) to keep up to speed with their exciting program of events including: ‘weedbusting’ with local primary school children... 20.01.2022 Works to replace the fountain at Lakeside in Pakenham are now complete! The previous fountain had reached the end of its useful life and has been replaced with a new fountain that will provide greater aeration and improve water quality for plant and animal health. The new fountain also features LED lighting displays with more colour and program options! ... The project was fully funded by Council. We’re also currently undertaking works on the nearby viewing deck. When complete, the deck will feature new flooring to provide the perfect spot to watch the new fountain from! 16.01.2022 It's NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee) Week (8-15 November) - a time to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Throughout this week, artworks created by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander primary school children from across Cardinia Shire are being projected onto the Cardinia Cultural Centre (CCC). The works were produced under the guidance of Aboriginal Elder Aunty Marg Worn. Yo...u can view the artworks at the CCC in the evenings. 15.01.2022 We’re back! We are thrilled to announce that the Cardinia Cultural Centre Gallery has reopened. The art gallery, public amenities and café are open! New... gallery hours are Tuesday to Sunday 10am 3pm with the Cardinia Cultural Centre Café open Monday to Wednesday, 9am-4pm (kitchen closes at 3pm) and Thursday to Sunday 9am 3pm (breakfast and lunch menu) before opening again for dinner from 5pm. The Theatre, Box Office and Customer Service desk remain closed for now. We are busy behind the scenes working on some incredible events for you, so stay tuned for more in the coming weeks. We have activated plans towards ensuring the health and safety of our community and provision of essential community services. These plans are being continuously reviewed and updated as further restrictions are gradually eased. 02.01.2022 Works have started to upgrade the O’Neil Road/Princes Highway intersection in Beaconsfield! fully signalised ‘t-intersection’ dual right-turn lanes bus lanes on the Princes Highway ... dedicated cyclist signalisation This is the first of a number of intersection upgrades as part of Council’s ‘Princes Highway Intersections’ project. The O’Neil Road intersection, which is funded by the Australian Government’s Urban Congestion Fund, is expected to be completed in May 2021.
