24.01.2022 Welcome to Care for Cows - The Cows of Hare Krishna Valley. This page is intended to lovingly connect community with our Hare Krishna Valley Desi Cow herd and our ow Protection program, by introducing you all to our herd members, sharing the daily goings on at Hare Krishna Valley (never a dull moment!) and sharing the wealth of information on the benefits of cow protection as instructed in the ancient Vedic teachings. What does our Cow Protection program mean? It me...ans our cows and bulls are protected from the moment of birth, and for the duration of their natural life. We have constructed a natural earth barn (Goshalla) and dairy to shelter up to forty cows. Which is the first of its kind in Victoria and provides a valuable educational facility for the local and broader community. In todays commercial dairying industry, cows are primarily exploited for milk production. They are subject to improper treatment and are ultimately slaughtered for the meat industry. At Hare Krishna Valley, we practice a non-violent (ahimsa) lifestyle, which means that every cow, calf and bull live without fear of death, mistreatment or being over-milked. The calves enjoy happily suckling milk from their mothers, and all cows and bulls are treated with love, affection and respect.

20.01.2022 Happiness of mankind is directly connected to the happiness of the cows - because the poor animals are always in anxiety, humanity is also put into anxiety by strains of hot and cold wars. ISKCON founder-Acharya, His Divine Grace A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

15.01.2022 Introducing Kunti (Lady) Kunti is the leader of the milker herd and is a natural born leader who leads with love and affection as she is by nature very maternal and affectionate. Kunti is often seen looking out for and providing care to all of the other cows and calves. Kunti came to us from our sister farm, New Govardhan in northern NSW and settled straight into life at Hare Krishna Valley very well. Kunti has not only developed many loving relationships with the other cows..., but has also developed loving relationships with her cow herds and is always seeking brushes, scratches and cuddles. Kunti is also always one of the first in line for a tasty treat, with favourites including apples, bananas and mango. Kunti is mother to Prahlada, Anuradha, Malati and grandmother to Jai Jagannatha.

06.01.2022 Introducing Hamsi. Hamsi is the Hare Krishna Valley Cow herd matriarch. Hamsi is a Brahman cow and at 13 years of age is one of the original members of the herd to move to Hare Krishna Valley. Though not being born at Hare Krishna Valley and being quite people shy by nature, Hamsi prefers the company of her bovine friends. Hamsi is a strong and commanding leader of her herd and is so strong that she successfully delivered and reared her eldest daughter Sita Priya and later on twins Dauji and Revati. Today Hamsi is also grandmother to Madhu and Rasa Yatra, and though she is a grandmother, she is not showing signs of slowing down and still busy keeping her herd in line and out of trouble
04.01.2022 During this time of social distancing, we are so thankful we can still cuddle up with these beauties
03.01.2022 Introducing Giridhari.. The resident bull in charge. The leader of the pack. Giridhari is the eldest bull in our herd and a big and beautiful specimen of strength and virility.... Though very large in size and his horns are somewhat intimidating, Giridhari is a very gentle and affection bull. He loves to interact with people and is always eager for a brush or to be hand fed some fruit and veggie treats. When interacting with his herd, he is a strong leader who is very patient with the younger boys. On occasion though you will see him kicking up dust, smashing up the ground with his horns and calling out loudly, but this is simply to either impress the cows or to express his strength and might to the other bulls or his cow herd Manigriva.
