For young children, even the smallest of objects can hold incredible value and meaning. Five-year-old Rohit found a belt buckle. He keeps it with him because it is shiny. Therefore, he thinks, it must be quite valuable. Mohammed found a plastic mobile phone. One day, he wants to have a real phone to call his friends.... Eight-year-old Jasia is so happy to have found a lost ring in the camp. But she does not want to get married anytime soon, she wants to become a teacher when she grows up. 20.01.2022 Gabriela is a surgeon in Honduras, she's working with CARE as part of our COVID-19 response. "We are so aware of the responsibility we bear each time we visit a community. We use N19 masks to protect those that come into contact with us. Full protective PPE is something that we leave for hospital use. Here in Honduras PPE is scarce and they need it to protect their lives." She explains that many people in the communities couldn't afford masks or didn't see them as necessary. ... "We came up with alternatives and found reusable masks in their traditional Lenca clothing. They used those with pride. That way, we supported small business of women sewing these masks and strengthen preventive measures in the communities." 16.01.2022 CARE is working in Cox's Bazar refugee camp to provide families like Hamida and Bushra's with lifesaving food and medicine. Hamida has brought her younger sister Bushra to the clinic as she is severely malnourished. The girls mother was killed when their village in Myanmar was attacked. "My mother was disabled, so she could not leave the house when it was set on fire. She was burned alive. I tried to grab her and carry her, but she was too heavy," says 15-year-old Hamida.... 04.01.2022 18-year-old Maimuna has just given birth to her first baby, they are currently living in Cox's Bazar refugee camp with Maimuna's husband, mother and younger sister. Maimuna's mother says, "She is so young, too young to be a mother. But we have no family planning. She will have many babies, and yet, we have nothing. What life will they have? This baby girl has been born into this suffering. You can help CARE to provide lifesaving essentials to families like Maimuna's including birth control and hygiene items.
