We’ve all heard about how there is a lot of sugar in your can of soft drink or your favourite dessert, but there are so many other names of sugar that also have a huge impact on your dental and overall health. Sugar can be called over 50 different names and these are known as hidden sugars, it can also make it harder to find when you are reading the ingredients label! In the image above it shows you some of the common hidden sugars to look out for. An easy way to tell is if an ingredient has the word Syrup or ends in -ose then it’s another name for sugar. Next time you are reading and ingredients list, see how many times sugar is listed under a different name..it might surprise you!
