16.01.2022 Older job seekers: Give us a chance Published on July 21, 2020 Useful article from LinkedIn News for older job seekers and those people who are supporting job seekers. Key points for me:... 1. You’ve really got to understand what you bring to the table and be strategic in your job search. Who are you targeting? What is your unique value proposition? 2. LinkedIn has just launched free access to learning paths for in-demand jobs. A free LinkedIn Learning course is shared each week. Be sure to sign up by hitting the ‘subscribe’ button up the top right. If you have not joined LinkedIn and not sure how to set up a profile, talk to a Next Steps consultant. https://www.linkedin.com//older-job-seekers-give-us-chan/

15.01.2022 Big mistakes to avoid on your CV. News.com.au 9 July 2020 Linda Jeffrey, National Vice President of the Career Development Association of Australia in this article explains that candidates should look to tailor the wording and language in their resumes and CVs to that which is used in the advertisement and role description. Online application documents can be uploaded into applicant tracking systems, so if you don’t reflect the language in the advertisement in your applicati...on documents, your application may be discarded as a poor match without a human being ever looking at it. Great advice. Being able to analyse and pull the advert apart to identify key words and requirements is the first step in putting together a great application. https://www.news.com.au//news-story/c9ccd25ee1c5e41d0ac034

I recently had the pleasure to work with a group of teens from across all 3 sectors who were completing the Inspiring Teens program developed by Genevieve Hodge. Students were challenged to reflect on their involvement in this 3-month action learning leadership program and to be able to articulate this on their resumes and to prospective employers. Inspiring Teens is Gen’s flagship program that works to develop socially responsible young leaders through community projects to create a better world! To know more about this opportunity for young people have a look at www.spirecoaching.com.au
