09.01.2022 Hi Everyone, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and give some background about the path that led me to JTCESC. Cran (Short for Cranston) Collis is my name. Originally a Phys Ed teacher across K - 12 at Kenwick and South Kensington in 1990. Then to Gladys Newton for 8 years, some of this as a classroom teacher. Some other roles in mainstream and a language development centre until in 2004, then I was asked to join State-wide Services (Centre for Inclusi...ve schooling)as a visiting teacher with the Autism Intervention Team which I did and loved for 5 years. I was then asked to apply for the Deputy's role at Dianella Secondary College ESC and was successful. Fast forward 11 years and 3 terms the opportunity for a mobility transfer came about, so here I am. My hobbies and interests : Health and fitness in general. Played rugby and cricket for many many years (now retired). I now concentrate on gym and martial arts, which I plan to continue with the students who are interested at JTCESC. I have a strong belief in a practical curriculum and arming our students with the skills that will enable them to be positive contributors to the community when they leave school. I have a very strong behaviour background and prioritise this as a whole school approach. We must seek to understand behaviour and use this understanding to implement strategies that teach students acceptable and safe ways to self-manage. Not only will this benefit their mental health, it will also help them make and keep friends, it will also help them find and keep employment. This is the path to a productive and happy future. I look forward to building on the strengths already established at this wonderful school as well as adding some of the things my experiences have taught me over my 30-year journey in education. #engageeducateenrichempower# #JTCESC# See more
