23.01.2022 There's so many take-aways from this interview with LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner & Oprah....Especially the part about it all boiling down to "people just want to be heard"- such an important lesson to listen, acknowledge & clarify what others are saying, even if you disagree, you can still communicate that you've heard them & then explain why you disagree... If more recruiters ditched their pre-meditated interview questions & just had a conversation with candidates, I bet they would capture much more valuable information. https://www.linkedin.com//influencer-interview-oprah-winfr
22.01.2022 Yesterday I woke up feeling low in energy & tired. Mainly because my son has been up at night teething! I just wanted to share two things that quickly brightened up my day. 1. I had a meaningful conversation with the lady sitting next to me on the train. We were the only two ppl not staring down at our phones. It started as small talk but changed to a deeper tone. It was so nice to share a genuine connection like that with someone I may never see again- a rare occurrence now...adays! 2. One of my clients gave me this bottle of champagne in gratitude of accepting his exciting new role. He was so thankful for the prep we had done leading up to the interview which enabled him to nail his dream role! If you’re feeling a bit flat, have a think about the small things you’re grateful for, it really does work!

20.01.2022 Jim Carrey- what a legend. Even if you're not a fan of the characters he plays, he is full of wisdom & inspiring words in real life. This is worth a watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEXaNY5lKTQ
19.01.2022 Great way to start the week is to take time to listen to Shawn Achor's chat with Oprah about his latest book 'The happiness advantage' :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4IgMIRyg1I I've written about many of these concepts in the past http://careermojo.com.au/2011//22/the-pursuit-of-happiness/, so whilst it may not be new information, he packages it up in an easy to understand way. If your'e not familiar with Shawn Achor, who has studied happiness for 10 years, his Ted talk ...is gold (one of my favs): https://www.ted.com//shawn_achor_the_happy_secret_to_bette Feel free to share your thoughts :-)
19.01.2022 Love this very timely quote: There is no crisis without a blessing, no challenge without an opportunity, no set back without a step forward and no experience that can’t initiate greater meaning.- Dr John Demartini

16.01.2022 With all the 'noise' online; the motivational quotes, videos from self help gurus in between seeing peoples holiday snaps, I thought I'd post something useful. Below is a buddhist mantra I use as a mindfulness tool with clients before we start a session. It's a great way to really forget about everything else & be in the present moment. Try it before you step into an important meeting, or just need some "me" time.
16.01.2022 I suck at the humble brag. This is a bit bizarre considering I’m a personal branding expert & often tell my clients they’re being too humble! It may be because I genuinely love what I do & perceive the results I get for people as just being part of my job. I’ve been working closely with someone to develop his career goals and personal branding. He’s been on fire over the last few weeks in his job search. I had a gut feeling that all his hard work would come to fruition soon ...& it did today- when he received not one, but TWO job offers! I asked him to reflect on his success. Based on this, here are my TOP THREE tips for job seekers in the current climate: 1. Know your must have’s Vs nice to haves, values & goals asses the vacancy against these criteria 2. Ensure your certifications are ready to go & referees are worded up in advance 3. Be prepared to negotiate know your value & be prepared to answer honestly when you’re asked your salary expectations #jobsearch #recruitment #jobseekers #gethired #careers #careergoals#careertransition #careerchange #careercoaching #careeradvice
15.01.2022 This morning I went to a gym class before starting my day. The usual positive, upbeat instructor was away. I really noticed a difference in the teaching style of her replacement. She kept using phrases like this ones really hard, this will hurt, this is a killer. Each time I heard her make a negative statement, I flipped it around & told myself the opposite in order to stay motivated. I thought to myself how can someone expect to motivate & inspire a room full of people using negative language? Neuropsychology research has proven that our choice in words reflects our thinking. So negative phrases like these are not only unhelpful, but can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Is there an area of your life where you’re using negative self-talk? Or is someone else’s phraseology impacting you?
11.01.2022 Working with my clients on their personal brand is so rewarding as it allows me to uncover what is unique about them & how we can authentically get the message out via resume, Linkedin & in person. PM me to find out more !

10.01.2022 Giving feedback at work is so critical to staff's performance, engagement & development, yet so many Managers get it wrong. This article breaks down why the "sandwich approach" doesn't work & suggests more effective ways to give feedback. A great read whilst you eat your sandwich ;-) #leadership #management #feedback #employeeengagement https://www.hrmonline.com.au//why-sandwiching-your-feedb/
