22.01.2022 SPEAKING UP IS A CAREER LIMITING MOVE. Those were the words my boss told me when I spoke up about sexual harassment early in my career. Little did I know at the time choosing to keep silent did not protect me. It repressed my voice and fragmented my soul. It exposed me to continued sexual harassment until one day I took back my power.... If you’re experiencing sexual harassment in the workplace, don’t be fooled that by keeping silent it will make the problem go away. Use your voice to protect yourself. Use your voice to protect others. Use your voice to stop the toxicity. Use your voice to make a difference. Check your workplace policy Talk to other person - tell them to STOP! Seek assistance from a trusted leader or HR representative Make a formal compliant Lodge a claim with an external body YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO IT ALONE!

06.01.2022 YOU CAN’T HAVE IT ALL! I recently had someone say to me that I must be bummed to walk away from a thriving business now that I’ve got another a baby on the way. I looked at the person a little dumbfounded then checked the date to make sure we were still in the 21st century. But in all honesty, this person wasn’t far from the truth. The idea that we can get everything we want out of life is flawed.... Everything you do, no matter what it is, costs something. You might be treated to a free lunch but it may mean you’re giving up an hour of productivity or missing the opportunity to do something else. When we attempt to do everything, we’re attempting to live a valueless life, where everything is necessary and valued equally. So, what’s a person to do? It’s about choosing what you value more and living with it. Every time you are presented with a new opportunity, think about what this opportunity will cost you. I’m my situation, being a mother and solopreneur, doesn’t mean I can’t have it all. I have created a life that allows me to get more of what I value - time with my family. I choose who I work with, which means saying NO to some clients. No matter what your priority is in life, before you say YES to an opportunity, look at how much it will cost you. Saying NO doesn’t mean you’re giving up something - it often means you’re getting more of what you love!
