25.01.2022 A Visitor Access Code to ensure a nationally consistent visitation policy to residential aged care homes during the COVID-19 crisis has been released by aged care peaks and consumer advocacy organisations for consultation with the public. The Code aims to apply a compassionate and consistent visitor policy that continues to minimise the risk of COVID-19 while providing innovative on-site visiting solutions to maintain the mental health of residents. 21.01.2022 On Thursday 12 March 2020, Val French passed away peacefully, with her family by her side at age 92. Back in 1989, Val, along with Kay Thomas, Maggie Smith and Ailsa Whitehead founded Carers Queensland, an organisation that supported all carers. Her vision, selflessness and commitment were the source of innumerable efforts to improve the quality of life for caring families.... Val gave so much of her life to fight for the rights of others. She made a real difference in their lives. She was passionate about women’s issues, mental health and carers issues. Today, the Board and all staff at Carers Queensland honour the memory of Val French. We acknowledge the incredible work that Val did in establishing this organisation and send our deepest condolences to her family and friends.
